Honestly this may be favorite trail cam pic period right now. That is such a cool and beautiful moment that only nature can show us.

I've studied it quite a bit since I got it. You can almost sense the mood and feelings. It's kind of weird to think you can relate to another species and emotions.

I hope this contact and exchange doesn’t spread CWD or be a vector for spread of other disease. Is there a feeder around?

Deepest of apologies for that but the devil made me post that

I've said the same all along. Everything I've ever read about banning feeding has the words "speculation" or "suspected transmission". I've yet to see a study link feeding wild animals to CWD, and even if they find a link I doubt it creates more animal to animal contact than what they do naturally.

To answer your question; no feeder around. There is a mineral lick, a water hole, several food plots, and a planted rub post though. With all those distractions they still managed to swap snot on their own accord.

I know I entered this guy last month, but since deer interaction came up, thought I'd show part of the neat sequence. It's like the one buck has an itch, and so the other one tries helping him out. Or maybe nothing at all like that! And no feeders here either, but somehow these 2 met up.

So cool! Here is a couple of deer plucking ticks off each other's ears.

Here is the perfect example of what dreams are made of. Looks good from this angle.

I’d rather kill a 5 year old six point then deny this young guy his potential......

But my son says if he walks by he’s a goner :emoji_astonished:

Ya don't see this every day, so I do wonder what it going on in their heads Mortenson. I am also impressed with the sequence Catscratch caught. In that case there appears to be a purpose for their cooperation, which is something I did not realize deer did until recently. Cool pics!

I took those pics with my phone and watched them that entire evening. They periodically returned to each other and turned their head/ears in a manner that seemed to ask for help, there was no mistaking what they were doing.

Here are a couple of pics of a deer and a bird who buddied up. Of course the bird was getting food from the situation so it might not have communal, but the deer was more than happy to accommodate him. Once again the deer would bend and contort his ears so the bird had easy access. The deer certainly knew there was relief provided by the bird.

This is awesome! I’m teaching a unit on Symbiosis (mutualism, commensalism, and parasitism) to my 6th grade class right now. I usually plug in a generic photo of an Oxpecker bird and a Zebra. I hope you don’t mind me showing these to them during class next week!

PM me your phone number or email and I'll send whatever pics you want straight to you. Might be easier to work with or better quality. Always glad to help if I can.

These 2 ladies are about to get into a cat fight. The one on the left has quite the pooch for a non-pregnant doe and looks more like a kangaroo.
