I was thinking this also. If you have pex ring crimping tool you could just get a coupler and crimp a fresh piece of 1/2 inch on the end. Not worth buying a crimper to use once. Unless the price has come down in the last few years.

Or does the old brass coupler match the treads on the valve? May have to toss the chrome coupler and reuse the old one if they do.

Remove the compression ring and collar off the old piece of pipe and slide on what left there after the cut and adapt to it. (Really should get a new compression ring)

My question also. Does the shark bite valve not fit on the pex?
