    Bear Damage

We usually see them early October and that's kind of it. Sometimes they make a brief appearance, sporadically. Two or three years ago some walked under my dad's deer stand around 4:00am when they were in season. They left tracks in the snow. 5+ years ago a saw one born that spring. Too small for me.

    Bear Damage

Our camp is on 3B, Lycoming County. Plenty of bears this year. We're on extended rifle season too during buck. Was bear archery ever longer than a week?

    Bear Damage

PA early bear season was last week. I hunted Friday and Saturday with no sign. They showed backed up early Monday am.

    Bear Damage

Chestnuts a couple of weeks ago, and now a pear tree. Last week was PA's muzzleloader bear season. Not a sign of them in a while. Between Monday and today, there have been at least 4 different bears on the property. GRRRRR.

    Cuddelink L series Q & A

Won't a full format aka "clear" of the card wipe all the settings? It happens any time I put a new memory card in an L camera, even if it stays powered on. Maybe if you just copy out the DCIM folder with the pics you can "swap" cards.

    Cold weather Blaze orange hat

I pestered Cabela's about who made it. I figured out the company, but they were special order in big quantities only. They did send me one they had in a stash, but it was a less quality, and a bit small for my head. It's in my hat and gloves bin.

    Cold weather Blaze orange hat

It's a tundra. There's a tag inside the hat that said so. All I had to do was actually look!

    Cold weather Blaze orange hat

@TonySoprano, I went through this same decision-making process two-ish seasons ago. I had an old school Elmer Fudd style flip down ear hat from Cabelas. It was gortex/Thinsulate, but the only issue was it was camo and not orange. Cabelas hasn't sold these in years. First, I had and love the...

    Cuddelink L series Q & A

I'm a fan of the Cuddelink system, but I'm not sure I'd jump into this system if you have no desire for a cell plan. There are a few reasons, but here are two. 1. The cameras transmit a picture to the home unit, but they are a lower resolution picture than what you are probably used to from a...

    Bear Damage

Out of curiosity, what have you tried? A hot fence won't work because the trees are fairly scattered. We do want critters to get the mast, but once it drops.

    Bear Damage

Has anyone had any luck coming up with a solution to keep bears out of trees? Sometime in late September or October a bear did some SERIOUS damage to a group of half a dozen chestnut trees. The trees are about 10 years old and producing, but don't have limbs strong enough to hold bears. Some had...

FYI: PA Woodland Resilience Enhancement Network

That makes tons of sense, but the scope of this isn't limited to riparian zones.

FYI: PA Woodland Resilience Enhancement Network

Agreed. I heard 8 per county, but it could change as some counties are small, urban etc. Seems like dollars amounts are TBD. Funding comes through some Chesapeake Bay organization. Someone from that org may want to walk the property

Nice. You didn't see too interested in your first post. 😉 My brother met with the county forester yesterday. Sounds like we should be in the program. Did he mention when you may get more info? Sounds like maybe 2026.

    CVA Optima V2 Review

I had a similar issue with my Accurav2 when I was first shooting it. After the first shot or two with Power belts, I couldn't get the bullet seated all the way down, and the groups were inconsistent, around that 6"-9" mark you're seeing. It was my first time shooting an inline, so I wasn't...
