From the article: “4’ fencing seems to deter most wolves. 4’ and 6’ is being used on the guy’s ranch in MN.
Guy has 1600 acres - cost was 100k - initial cost was 300k for a contacted to do this...
Sorry, didn’t see that.
I mean what other options to these guys have? I read a study/podcast where these guys down south were fencing in 5-10 acre areas, and it became a hotspot for does with fawns, because the coyotes could not get in. M Basically the does dropped their fawns in the...
I have a serious question for you guys in wolf county: why not put up a 4-8’ fence around your property borders?
I love deer hunting, and if the decision is between no deer on my 2-3k/acre deer hunting property or a 10-30k fence, I’m saving up for the fence or building it myself.
Might be...
Two different scenarios:
Prickly ash thickets
Northern NY: Private land with little human pressure and moderate coyote pressure. 1/3-5 doe/buck ratio. In areas where the prickly ash is so thick, I see little evidence of deer usage. There are less trails than you would think and very little...
Thanks Rusty. That’s a good idea. Most of the farmers I talk too in the North country are growing silage corn and planting 100-110 day hybrids in late April / early May on sandier soils or heavy soils with tile.
I’m in Macomb. We should work out deal where I’ll let you borrow my Eco-drill...
All,
Any recommendations on particular RR hybrid varieties for grain production in a short day window?
Info:

First Frost Average (Sept 19)
Currently in hay field

Better to just watch a YouTube video. I haven’t ran it through it’s paces. I limited it to 50m high and 100m away while my son is learning how to fly - to keep it in visual.
The camera is pretty good. I could identify a deer from 100m high pretty easy.
Got the kid DJI Mini-3 for Christmas. Around $600 with some extra blades and a two year warranty. Nice quality and easy to fly. Can’t hear it after 100 meters.
Will be nice to check on remote food plots on our place. Maybe find some deer out of season. Look at neighbors property to...
Jake is one of the best I’ve talked to in the industry. The rest of them seem like self centered hollier than you “public land killers” with private land corn feeders.
I’d have to think the best way to do this would be if you OWNED heavy equipment - think bull dozers, dump trucks, excavators maybe hiring the logging out then do the cleanup, driveway install, food plot building.
It’s my observation that in business if the barrier to entry is low, the profits...
That’s why I said individual liberties or privileges.
I would argue that cell cameras are more effective than crossbows for killing up and comer bucks than crossbows are. I’d think the same guys that are out there smashing deer with a crossbow would out there smashing them with a rifle or ML...
I’m going to pose this question to the group, but I’m asking you all to seriously consider before replying. This isn’t social media - We are all adults, so I’m assuming most of us are out of our moms basement, unlike the typical facespace troll.
What if the state game agencies want to ban...
In my limited experience (once) brassica no tilled with a drill into hay field don’t make much for bulbs. I didn’t have much for bulb production. Northern NY. Zone 3-4. Heavy Clay. Full burn down with Gly. Planted 1st week of August. Kasco Eco-Drill. 8-10lbs Mix of kale, Daikon and...
