    Switchgrass in SE Ohio

I'm in highland county. Southern Ohio. I planted around 8 acres of real-world switchgrass in Feb 2021. Some of it in linear strips to partition a large field and a couple 1-2 acre blocks. So this is year 3. Stuff is incredible had sufficient cover on the second year but year 3 it's insane...

    Big fellow eagle soybean

Anyone planted the big fellow variety soybean from eagle seed? Going to put in 3.5 acres of it. Have heard mixed results as far as grain production. I've heard it won't produce beans up North but the definition of north to a guy in MN vs GA are two different things. If it's the mason Dixon...

    Bench grafting persimmons

Most the persimmon I have in the ground or have potted seem to break bud considerably later than other fruit trees. Hopefully timing it right will work out. I got a pretty good handle on grafting just hope the finer details come together. I'm always concerned about joining them at the right...

    Bench grafting persimmons

Have any of you guys had success using a whip and tounge while bench grafting young persimmon seedlings? I have a lot of persimmon seedlings in the ground ready to graft this year. But also have a ton of small first year seedlings coming in the mail soon that I would like to graft and pot at...

Oaks that hold leaves for mn/wi

I've never heard of a difference between pin oaks but don't know for sure. Maybe a purchase from a. Northern nursery would help but I always thought a pin was a pin

    Miscanthus screen

That's funny I was gonna put a cedar row in as well at some point or another I'll probably end up doing that with a single row of miscanthus and a block of switch Ill probably need at least 5-7k rhizomes for a single row to screen off some large ag fields

    Miscanthus screen

Looks good j-bird that's some substantial growth for 2 years nice. Funny about the switchgrass. Was actually thinking about doing a single row with a 10 ft border of switch. Most of my switch is 5-7ft at 2 year old and it seems to do the trick but only in flat land

    Miscanthus screen

I put in a double row last spring that seems to be doing well just did it as an experiment. Sounds like a plan I was worried some suggestions on the sellers website suggest 3-5 rows and the cost just seems too much. Bill I read your thread on the propagation or cuttings. If I was to propagate...

    Miscanthus screen

What would the ideal spacing be on a double row every 2ft staggered?

    Miscanthus screen

For any of you guys who have planted miscanthus will a single row work for a screen? I have several thousand feet that I want to screen off and don't know if switchgrass alone will cut it due to topographic dips and humps in the field. Don't want to be a cheapskate on the rhizomes but I would...

    Switchgrass

I sprayed my first year switchgrass growth with methylated seed oil/qinclorac and it murdered the foxtail and crabgrass. My first year switch was probably 4ft tall at that point though if your switch is much smaller the quinclorac might damage it some

    24D on switchgrass
