Makes sense- will glufosinate work well on grasses or should I add some gly? Thank you

    Herbicide help (enlist and Liberty)

I am experimenting with corn for the first time this year and was able to get a bag of Liberty corn. I am getting a little overwhelmed reading all the options for herbicides and was looking for advice on a good approach. We have had issues with marestail and Johnson grass before. Is a glufosin...

Row pines converted to food plot- any advise?

I have a few acres of row pines in central Wisconsin and I would like to convert a small patch were a bunch tipped over into a food plot. Anyone had success doing so? Any recommended plantings? I have a tractor and grapple to clear the trees, is it critical to remove the stumps? I was thinking...

    Soybean browse pressure questions

Ok Thank you for both posts, lots of great info. I believe I should have pods as I have plenty of leaves and saw plenty of nodes near the leaf base. The tops of the plants have been browsed off but most appear to have survived and are getting close to where I think they should be able to keep...

    Soybean browse pressure questions

Also, do deer tend to browse on flowers and young pods or are the leaves what they target (until beans dry up later)?

    Soybean browse pressure questions

I have a 3 acre and a just under 2 acre plot of ag beans that I planted in Central Wisconsin that has been e-fenced with minimal success. When I first set up the fence I did not have enough fiberglass poles so there were low spots and the deer were able to get in. Since then, it has been a...

    Sole fence charger going dead

we have been in a drought lately so I’m starting to think that’s the issue- we got rain last night so I will go check them again to see if that solved it. Nothing else makes sense. Thanks! Good tip on the auto charger- mine has a 6 volt setting so that’s what I used and they seem fine after.

    Sole fence charger going dead

Plots are 2 and 3 acres. I walked the fence and there are no breaks or weeds and tape is through all insulators (nothing touching metal T posts. I’m stumped. And frustrated!!

    Sole fence charger going dead

Tested on multimeter when I brought in from field today and battery measures between 6.7 and 6.8 volts. Any insight is greatly appreciated!

    Sole fence charger going dead

I purchased two new Parmak Solar Pak 6 chargers this year and left them outside facing south for a week before putting in field. I set my fences up and have both units on a wood post, facing south. When I checked on them after a week one charger was in the red zone (almost dead). I flipped the...

Question on Electric Fence set up

That makes perfect sense. I am wondering if I would be better off running flagging tape or something cheaper than poly wire on the inside since I wont be hot anyway? I ordered all the wire so I will probably just use it but this gives me something to think about! thanks for the insight

Question on Electric Fence set up

Very interesting. If I am having issues with the bottom strand of the inside fence grounding out due to vegetation I will consider only running the top and outer tape hot. Thanks for the tip

Question on Electric Fence set up

What do people use to connect the three different strands together (1 outer to 2 inner)? Should they be "bridged" together at more than one spot? Wouldn't think that would matter but this is a first for me.

Question on Electric Fence set up

Hi, I am planning on fencing two bean fields this year and am finalizing my supplies before this weekends installation. Plan is to run a 3-d set up with one outer strand and two inner strands. I have enough T-posts with insulators along with enough fiberglass step in posts to go around both. I...

release method in Wisconsin- advice welcome!

I used it last year and it worked great on one plot but not nearly as well on my other two plots ( 2 and 3 acres). You are correct though, it is hard to have such a specialized, and expensive, piece of equipment sitting idle but I made the decision that this is the route I want to go and...

release method in Wisconsin- advice welcome!

I watched that video, along with most of Grant Woods, and think that it looks pretty great. My main concern is that the shape of my fields (long and irregular) means plenty of turns and driving over the same spots which I am worried will really crush the beans. They claim that a majority of the...

release method in Wisconsin- advice welcome!

Do you drill in your fall planting or broadcast? Do your fields get more activity on years when you plant brassicas mid summer vs when you plant them late summer? I definitely know that I want to go heavy on the rye for weed suppression the next year but haven't decided on timing and method to...

release method in Wisconsin- advice welcome!

I have 5 acres (3 acre and 2 acre fields) in Central Wisconsin with a high deer density and some commercial ag in the area. I am fortunate to have a 5' genesis drill and roller crimper with my end goal to always have something growing in my plots (buffalo system/release method). Two years...

Thanks for chiming in WildThing- did you feel as though you had adequate weed suppression in the spring with 50# per acre?
