This is the first year I’ve gotten blossoms after planting spring 2021 so I’m pretty excited..one of the trees nearby that doesn’t get hit as hard is a hewes crab which is right up there as one of my favorites..about golf ball size but very smooth and sweet taste

Got a sweet little Chestnut crab on M7 rootstock from Turkey Creek that has been in the ground 3 years and is just starting to bud out..have noticed that it’s leaves have been chewed on by something even now and saw a few small brown-green beetles on the leaves yesterday..really want this tree...

Glad you said that I was all hyped to start getting some more growth on my conifer screen and was going to try to find something hotter than 10-10-10, though mine are 2 years in the ground think they could handle a bit more than 10-10-10?

Here’s a pic of my front field..it was so warm this winter a bit north of you Pat that they barely touched the turnips and now most of them (the lighter shade of green) are starting to bolt..I’ll take the free seed when I mow it in the late summer! Maybe next winter will be cold enough for them...

Yeah in my area you are supposed to call the non-emergency number just so they are aware, so if anyone sees the smoke/fire they don’t call it in as out of control. The are I had intended to burn was so small I didn’t bother but in hindsight I’ll add it to the list of things to do right next time….

I normally have a 25 gallon ATV sprayer with a boom and a wand, but did not have them up there as the spots I was planning to spray were maybe 5’ wide by 50’ long…until the fire got into the 1.5 acre fallow field…

So it finally happened after a few small burns..had one get away fro me yesterday..took my weed torch up to the 2 food plots above my house and planned on just hitting the higher dead grass/weeds that I had left standing as a kind of break in between the 2 plots and at the top near the fence...

haha just went a little on each side with the parafilm!

Got 6 apple/crab/pear grafts done last night…looks like the temps might dip to around freezing but not into the 20s anymore and a lot of my trees are getting some smaller leaves on them..hope the paradigm holds up!

As far as I could tell it didn’t have an impact on them? I think cleth is grass specific..definitely wouldn’t spray gly like I did around those fruit trees.

Finally got some white and Alice clover seeded today in my one plot above the house before a good soaking rain tonight and tomorrow. Gonna try to hold off another week or longer for the alfalfa, chicory and crimson, but it looks like this will be the last real cold weather for PA.

Update: seeded some white clover last weekend at my parents/grandparents and will seed some white clover tomorrow with alfalfa/chicory/crimson clover to follow in about 2 weeks..things are really getting green fast here in N PA
