Finally got around to this tonight..decided to just graft to the limbs instead of truly “top working” the Anty..grafted Buckman, Rusty’s Favorite, Turning Point and Macoun..and now we wait for the Franken-tree Apple edition to do its thing…

We have one of the solar powered door on our coop and it has a timer that you can base on daylight percentage or set a time for it to close..saves alot of effort and I think it was like 40$ on Amazon..

10/11 grafts seem to be waking up on the Franken-Stump (copyright pending) and 7/9 waking up on the massacred bradford..way better ratio than I have had in the past...just fertilized with 10-10-10 last night hoping for some growth to begin before I get a cage on it....

I got some willows from them this spring that were a bit undersized for what I had ordered and thus far only 2/6 have leafed out...

I'd love to ask the same for apples/crabs..I have a bag full of scion wood I just haven't gotten to yet...

I really think that tree just needed more time..almost like a two year sleep then last year creep and hopefully this year leap…(and produce some fruit..)

yeah those two are some of the slower growing ones for me for sure...but if they get fruit by year 3 or so I'm usually ok with it..they are on a south facing slope that used to be a hay field so in my mind they should all be 20' tall by year 3 haha

I’ve planted over 100 fruit trees from both WC and BH (and others) and had the grafts above ground in North Central PA and the only 3 trees I’ve lost in 5 years have been from stupid voles…

definitely make sure its not wetland..do a mix of mammoth red and alsike clover...ive had alsike submerged for a bit that just then popped back and thickened up and mammoth red is a good poor/wet soil choice also

man I have a fridge crisper full of cash slowly waking up...definitely in the wrong business..
