We finished planting the trees that I bought from Nativ Nurseries today. All total we planted 24 trees. I guess they are really seedlings. Anyway, we planted 8 of each variety, Mexican plum, common persimmon, and Blac Cherry. Now play the waiting game to see if they take.

Me and the wifey spent today planting trees form NN. we planted Mexican plum, common persimmon and black cherry in the woods. Tomorrow we are going to finish planting the rest of the trees in the middle of a food plot.

I am going to take soil samples from the lush areas and take separate samples in the so-so areas just to see the difference in the results. Might be interesting.

I have some small areas that are lush green surrounded by large areas that are just so, so. I had hopes that the meter might give me an idea about the difference in the soil makeup without having to do a full scale soil sample.

One other idea that just hit my soggy head,, Hire a forester to mark the trees to be sawn then hire a crew to cut the trees. Maybe even have the saw crew bring the logs to a staging area then get a portable sawmill to come in and saw the logs.

Yeah, There are some portable sawmills around here too. That is a better option than hauling the logs.

If I could sell my logs to the mill myself, I would thin my woods and take the logs to a mill. But, here in La one can't cut his own timber and take it to the mill. 1. Gotta have a contract with the mill before they will buy your logs. 2. According to the forester's that I have talked to...

Now that is an interesting fact. Yesterday I burned leaves and pine straw in the yard. The leaves from a Bradford pear tree burned fine but the oak tree leaves were hard to burn.

I did just that today. Took the leaf blower and blew the leaves and pine straw away from the house and from along the woods the spent the rest of the day burning.

Since I am a fire bug anyway I thought the pictures of the fire at night was awesome. Yeah, I figured that a responsible person would not just leave a fire on its on. Too much responsibility there.
