    Imidan Alternatives

    As we get into spring it's time to start thinking about the spray schedule for the orchard. What are good alternatives to Imidan? I'm not 100% against spraying it, I just have trees that are close to my personal home, so that is concerning.

    When do you prune or trim apple trees?

    My rule of thumb in my area (6a) is to prune when the bad winter weather is behind us. Typically end of Feb thru Mid March is the best time. By the end of march I'm fertilizing and getting ready for bud break.

    IMO, really depends on your insect pressure. In my orchard I am catching Codling Moths and have applied another cover spray for the fruit not yet ready for harvest. on my new planted trees I had an Aphid issue a few weeks ago and sprayed Malathion to control them. So yes, i am still spraying...

    The tree was already here when I bought the property. Previous owner planted about 5 years ago. Seems to ripen beginning of September to mid September. Crisp and is a little tart, white flesh, large brown seeds.

    Hello everyone! I was walking the orchard this afternoon and came across this very strange yellowish substance on some leaves. The tree is a dwarf lodi planted in the Spring. Anybody got a clue what this is?The tree is a newly planted Dwarf Lodi, planted in May.
