90 degree plus lately and not a drop left in the water hole

We could too. Seems like everything goes to the North or the South of us where they don't need it and we set here in the middle and suffer. I think we have received 1.47 inches since July 1st and that came very early in the month.

90 degree plus lately and not a drop left in the water hole

I've never seen the grass underwater, even in the spring. There is a larger area to the left, about 12 acres that does have 6-8 inches of water in it from Sept thru June if we have the normal amount of rain. If we don't, you can walk almost anywhere and not get your feet wet. The larger area...

90 degree plus lately and not a drop left in the water hole

Saw that on the radar map earlier Scott. Anything we can get is welcome but what we really need is a full day soaker once or twice a week thru mid August.

More like a pumper truck full unless things change soon. Its not their only water source in the area but it is in a convenient location for where they tend to bed.

You can almost sense the disappointment in the pictures.

Checked a couple of cams yesterday

Those shots were taken almost two weeks ago, hopefully he will be adding some more growth before mid August when it's all but over.

    dog fennel

Controlled burn if the conditions are favorable for it ? I've never done it so that may not be feasible. I'm here to learn.

Checked a couple of cams yesterday

Nothing terribly exciting but a sampling of some I liked best from the cards.

Tried out the Mini-Crimper/Roller on some Oats today

This will never be a a true crimper/roller by definition as we know it but it sure did put a hurt on what was still green where I made my turn to the other end of the figure 8, more shaded part you can’t see in the vid, I should have moved the trail camera. Some of the green you see were...

Tried out the Mini-Crimper/Roller on some Oats today

The weight of thr Ranger has no effect. I have a way to add more weight to the crisper, actually two ways. We have been in drought conditions for three weeks and finally received a shot of rain with more in the forecast so the timing was right to get the brassica seed on the ground and covered.

Tried out the Mini-Crimper/Roller on some Oats today

Finally a little moisture overnight and that inspired me to broadcast my Brassicas today, about 3/4 acres in a figure 8 shaped plot planted with Oats in the Spring. The laid down thatch should help retain moisture and some what shade the young plants when they emerge. Once the seed was down it...

    Deer fly's

Vicks Vapo Rub..Works on deer flies and black flies, also mosquitos. Try it, it works. Just rub a little on various parts of exposed skin and they will leave you alone. You may need to re-apply it from time to time to retain its effectiveness.

    The Throw n’ Mow Method

Seed is cheap when compared to un-necessarily disturbing your soil.

    Good experience with vendor, Trailcampro.com.

Trailcampro.com is the only place I will buy my cameras from, the extended warranty has been useful at least three times in the last 5-6 years.

Staging plot question: What to plant

Sunflowers around all the edges with corn in the middle should make them feel safer after leaving the bedding area and probably work for the morning as well. There also would be some structure left after the corn/sunflower heads have been eaten. You may have to fence the area off to protect it...

Tried out the UTV/ATV Flip-Over Mini Crimper/Rolller yesterday just for griins

Thank you for the compliment but I wouldn't make it as a professional anything, lol. Anxious to see how it works trying to kill the live vegetation, that will tell the real story. I have a couple of different thoughts on adding some weight, pretty sure that will be a necessity to make it work as...

    Spreading switchgrass seed???

Could you tape off part of the opening, making it narrower or shorter ? I've never tried it so it may not be feasible.

Tried out the UTV/ATV Flip-Over Mini Crimper/Rolller yesterday just for griins

Of course the Crimper mode didn't come into play but the Roller mode did not do too shabby with no extra ballast added. If you click on the word vimeo the screen should enlarge. There are other "un-related" videos in the pages as well, all have sound and feel more than free to view them using...

    Tommy and the Bearded Hen

He looks proud as a peacock and the hen just to the right of him and to the far right in the second picture has a somewhat thin and scraggly looking beard, can you see it ?
