I haven't messed with cell cams yet, one day but my life is busy enough without text messages from wildlife. I've used Covert for a long time and never had an issue that wasn't immediately handled by them. I leave cameras out all year and get 4+ years out of them. Not bad for a relatively...
NW North Carolina. Peak breeding varies a lot in NC. The state agency started a study a few years ago, my counties peak breeding is November 22 according to their study. Our corner of the state is all pretty late even drifting into early December in parts of the mountains.
I've planted 75+ apple, pear, crabapple and chestnut trees from Northern Whitetail crab, The Wildlife Group, and St. Lawrence nurseries. This apple from NWC was planted in May 2018, picture taken October 2020.
Most of our improvements over the past few years have involved repairing logging roads, adding access roads, planting trees and roughing in a few food plots. I've been stationed 4600 miles away most of that time so it's been slow going but extra fun when I'm on the property. My crews first visit...
I've been on this site for several years, it's probably about time to start a land tour thread. We purchased our first ~102 acres in NW North Carolina in 2017. Since then we've added to it twice for a total of ~172 acres. We're in zone 6b with an elevation between 2600' and 3400'. Our County has...
Warm all week followed by low pressure and rain next week. I don't plan on hunting until the 14th (peak breeding is late November in my area), hopefully we'll get a cold front then.
Some of the neighbors in my area bait (corn) during rifle season. In addition to providing a late season food source I'm hoping my selection from NWC will keep the deer busy on my property for a little longer and they'll just eat the neighbors corn at night! It's hard to compete with whole corn...
My property is on the border of 1 and 2 in NC very close to TN and VA.
I grew up in SC and all my family lives down there. The 3 month rifle season and insane bag limit is one of the main reasons I decided to look elsewhere. You could have legally killed 17 deer in the upstate last year and...
