Spring of 2022 I grafted Ides of March onto a m111 rootstock that was planted spring of 2020. She's 9'+ now and blooming for the first time. As of last week. Also have Ides of March grafted on Dolgo rootstock at the same time. That one is blooming as well.
Hopefully that's what I'm dealing with. I've taken some precautions in the past but have never had a problem with sun scald. I almost cut it down. Thanks for the input.
