    MDC shipping timeline

Just a quick question for anybody that has ordered from MDC and had them shipped. How long has it taken you to receive your trees? Opted for an April 15 shipping date and was just wondering. Thanks Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk

    Mn gun opener

Around Two Harbors the deer move close to town to escape the wolves and hunting pressure. Last year my son saw several very nice bucks in people's backyards as he and his buddies went to town for lunch. Him and his buddies were wondering why so many town deer. The deer are Crazy for Sawtooth oaks

I'm in zone 4a and had a sawtooth survive this last winter. Just planted last spring. Now, the jury is out because we had a ton of snow and don't know if that helped insulate it fron the extreme cold. I added two more this fall as an experiment to see if they can make it here. Sent from my...

Oaks that hold leaves for mn/wi

My northern red and pin oaks hold a percentage of their leaves. All seem to drop at least some. I'm a hour North of the twin cities. My big bur oaks lose almost 100% by December. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

What do you think of this oak?

Sorry I should have clarified on the pictures. The bottom picture..the two leaves on the right are the tree in question, the other 4 leaves are burs around my property. Top picture is just a close up of the leaves. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

What do you think of this oak?

So in my area of Minnesota I have a lot of bur,pin and northern red oak on my property. All my bur oaks are pretty huge old trees. While checking out the acorn crop today I noticed an oak that caught my eye. (All my bur oaks have basically the same leaf shape, pretty obvious huh) This oak is...

    Arrowhead and other historic/pre-historic collections

Some more arrowheads. I'm not sure where they collected these.....from friends,colleagues...don't know. My dad said something about being involved with the minnesota archeological society??? We could never get a real story out of him. The last pic says "July 20th 1895" and its a rock, really...

    Arrowhead and other historic/pre-historic collections

These artifacts were found mostly by my mom and dad into the 60's and very early 70's around I believe Red Wing,Minnesota. My parents use to dig around different sites before us kids were born, I believe they thought it was some sort of wintering ground. They talked very little about their...

    Tree Sources

I'm in zone 4a and I'm pushing the limit too as far as what I can grow. As far as pears, we had two Ure pears at our old house a mile away and they grew awesome with a ton of pears. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

    Norway Spruce Screen Decisions

My neighbor bought these trees from a guy on Craigslist. One of the things was he had a bobcat and a flatbed trailer to help haul and plant. Also, he did have one cut off at a certain point... we are guessing someone needed a Christmas tree real bad. The tree rubbed in my picture was...

    Norway Spruce Screen Decisions

I'll give you my experience......5 years into a Spruce planting that is supposed to be a border/visual barrier. 1. I started with county tree seedlings. They are small and take awhile to get established. 5 years in my sandy soil (I'm in Isanti county, 1 hour North of the twin cities) and they...

    Native Warm Season Grass

Every trail i mow in my NWSG quickly has deer tracks in it. They just seem to be curious and a tad lazy I think. I've made all my trails winding and it doesn't matter, they still follow. I also have two mower width trails cut thru my corn field to access my NWSG field and they always follow...
