    Buckthorn blasters ?

Thanks for the reply. It says not to use with petroleum products. I generally use triclopyr with diesel. Do you know anything about that? Does it cause them to deteriorate quickly? What did you use in them?

    Buckthorn blasters ?

Has anyone tried using the herbicide daubers for cut stump treatment that are called Buckthorn Blasters ? Looks like an easy, no mess way of applying herbicide to stumps.. Just wondering how well they actually work and if they hold up very well. Thanks for any feedback on this. Mark

what to plant for spring/summer weed control?

Well, thanks for all the feedback. Lot of things to consider here. If I don't get a good stand of cereal this fall I'll probably try oats or barley with some clover next spring. As for as the weeds I have, right now, foxtail is probably the worst. In the spring I usually get a lot of cheat...

what to plant for spring/summer weed control?

It's not too late yet for rye but no moisture in sight as of now. Do you think the barley would do the trick in the spring? Better chance of moisture then and I could drill it in.

what to plant for spring/summer weed control?

So, the cereals work well even when planted in the spring? I guess that is my question.

what to plant for spring/summer weed control?

If for whatever reason (damn drought) you don't get a good stand of rye, wheat, etc. in the fall, what would be a good option to plant in late winter/early spring for weed control and spring forage? I'm in central Missouri.

Green cover summer release and fall release pics.

Wouldn't it be harder to drill into after mowing?

    Gonna build a shed...

Thanks for all the good info, Foggy(and everyone else). Could you still put your second overhead door in? That would probably do better than any windows could.

    Gonna build a shed...

I've thought about the ridge panesl for light but was a little concerned about issues associated with them such as leaking, breakage, etc. Would it be easy enough to work on or replace them if necessary? I figure if I put good enough electrical lighting in they wouldn't really be necessary...

    Gonna build a shed...

How about venting? Is a ridge vent the best way to go? If so, I guess it still needs other openings in the gable ends or soffits I suppose.

    Gonna build a shed...

Thanks for all the good ideas guys. Can't use all of them but will definitely use some of them. A few things were mentioned that I hadn't thought of yet. btw, I'm in central Mo.

    Gonna build a shed...

Thanks for the tips, Bill. My door(s) won't be visible from the road, so that's one good thing.

    Gonna build a shed...

Hey guys, I'm gonna build a shed in the near future. Nothing extravagant, just a basic machine/shop/storage shed. Gonna be 30x40, that's all I have room for, with concrete floor. Just would like to know what kind of things you are glad you did or wish you did differently. Some things I'm...

    Oak varieties

Swamp Chestnut oak, hands down the best acorn for deer attraction (at least on my farm). Can tolerate wet areas but does ok in an upland setting.

Can U identify this oak tree please

Some of those leaves above look a lot like cherrybark. Did you mean 36" circumference? It doesn't appear to be 36" in diameter. Also there is a lot of hybridization in oak species, so there's that. Q. velutina (black oak) has large, light-colored, velvety terminal buds, so you might want to...

Can U identify this oak tree please

Does not look at all like a black oak to me. Without seeing them in person I would guess cherrybark oak.

    Packer maxx crimper

I think laying it down with a crimper would make a much more even thatch layer to cover the seed to improve germination and give some protection from turkeys and such from eating it. I have a rotary mower, but it doesn't do a very good job of covering the ground evenly. I suppose a good roller...

    Packer maxx crimper

I don't do much spring planting other than occasionally buckwheat . I like to leave the cereals until late July or early August and then plant my brassicas, clover, cereals then. I like to leave the cereals standing for weed suppresion and seed production. I could be wrong, but it seems like...
