Tried a bunch without much luck.
They are in the white willow family.
So a few soil considerations.
Mine mostly fail due to rabbit and deer browse. They regrow from the base every year. But they don't stand a chance trying to get eastablised in an sort of existing cover.
I dont hang/age. More often than not I'm deboning in field if possible.
Sometimes if I feel itneeds it I will leave it in a cooler and ice age it for a few days. Otherwise I try and process the next day.
(Edit: 1000th post I guess. Took awhile. But here we are, about 7 years later, wtf does...
Have a pnuma.
At first thought it was great.
But don't think so much anymore.
Maybe get 1-2 hrs of slightly noticeable heat. Have 2 batteries so I can swap. Guess it does take the edge of.
Not sure if I'm just expecting to much. But feel it could do better.
Find where is shines for me...
Added to the family in early Oct. Winnie is picking things up fast. But Piper, the elder. Has been hunting like her life depends on it. Not sure if the addition lit a fire under her or what.
Got mine a vexlar ice fishing sonar one year, Ha. She was pretty stoked actually.
Usually stick to jewelry tho, mainly cause I can walk in last min when I forget.
Field to fry pan. Slow braised rooster thighs. Fun opener. Piper did great work after a long off-season. Can't beat the freshness of flying to frying in under 2 hrs.
Found this old boy on the AT. What an experience. Did 79 miles in 5 days. Can't wait to get back next year. Started in Georgia and plan to do a stretch every year till we hit Maine.
Been a wild/busy year. Trying to get caught up on all the projects with the fall clock counting down. Winter was a disaster, lost around a doz beautiful apple trees to rabits including 7 of my oldest. Hurt ripping em out and replanting but they were toast.
Got around an acre of trees planted...
It is a valuable emergency winter food source here that will get absolutely pounded when the conditions are right. Probably one of the only green foods available.
