Similar situation, I have about 25 apple trees, started with a pump 4 gallon sprayer and a long wand, took forever and a lot of refills. I now use a Stihl SR430 powered backpack sprayer, kind of heavy once loaded up but makes quick work of spraying, probably can effectively mist to about 18-20 feet
How far do you need to shoot? You could try sub sonic 22 rounds.
My dad used to carry a slingshot for grouse while he was deer hunting and he was pretty successful with it.
Both my kids participate in the National Archery in Schools Program, I have no idea how much if any of thier funding is from the federal government but it would be a real shame if it affected the program as it's a really good program that focuses on teaching competitive TARGET shooting and safety.
Pflanner or Clogger are what a lot of the pros use, expensive but they'll last a long time for most us weekend warriors. Woodland Pro from Baileys is probably a good compromise on cost / quality.
Late vote on this one.
MS170 is actually a really nice saw for the money, lightweight, relatively cheap, and quite reliable. Its really good for limbing and taking out small trees ( less than 8”). 8.6 lbs If I only owned one saw it won’t be a MS170.
MS250 you get quite a bit more power ( 76%...
I have 25-30 trees, started with a 4 gal manual pump backpack sprayer. Last couple of years I've been using a Stihl SR 430 mist blower, a bit heavy but does a really god job and uses much less water / chemical because its a mist as opposed to larger drops of water.
Those small hand held grinders are ok but not real precise. For my small chains I usually just hand file, recently picked up one the Stihl 2-1 sharpeners and they seem pretty fool proof. If I'm sharpening chains for the 6 foot bar I use my Oregon bench grinder.
Japanese Beatles have been getting worse at my place the last couple of years.
I tried traps, I'm convinced they attract in more JBs to the area than they catch so stopped using them.
Imidam is my main pesticide for my apple trees, but when the JB show up I switch to Sevin. The old Sevin...
Japanese Beatles have been bad at my place, normally they hit up my apples and raspberries, this year they've moved into my prairie targeting New England Aster, Evening Primrose, and Showy Tree Tickfoil.
Imidam works ok for me, that's what I normally spray my apples with. The old formulation...
Awesome looking natives!
I'm about 10 years into managing a a few prairie plots, certainly learned a lot over the years.
I've noticed that the recommended pounds of seed per acre for seeding has gone down over the years, I think part of this is to reduce the number of NWSG that tend to...
All depends on how much you plan on using your saw and how much you want to spend.
Stihl MS250 or MS251: budget friendly and yet decent quality, very good weight to power ratio.
Stihl MS271 or MS291: better construction, more power, but a bit heavy for 50cc class saws. I currently own a...
I certainly realize everyone has there own comfort level with felling trees and working with chainsaws but we are talking 4-8" trees, with that size tree you can get away with quite a bit with small equipment and basic cutting knowledgeable.
