    Wisconsin CWD?

He was a regular on trail camera, we got a picture of him with 1 side already shed and a couple days later he was shed out. Yes we are 100% positive its the same deer. Every deer is different. One thing we have noticed is the bucks we have shot that were positive, were super daylight active...

    Wisconsin CWD?

Here is another example, deer looked perfectly healthy all fall. By early December, we questioned if something was wrong and by end of December you could clearly see he was sick. Found him dead early January and we had him tested and it was confirmed CWD.

    Wisconsin CWD?

That deer is looking skinny compared to other 3.5+ yr old bucks we have around. We left 6 acres of standing beans and brassicas. Other photos we have of him he always has his head down when standing. Doesn't seem to alert of his surroundings.

    Wisconsin CWD?

We are in Sauk County and our population is high but mature buck numbers are getting lower. Here is a photo we just got yesterday and id bet a 100 dollar bill that deer will be dead within a month. CWD is an issue in our area.

    CWD Follow-Up

I grew up hunting in Sauk County and would routinely go for drives over in Richland County to look at fields covered in deer. It wouldn't be out of the ordinary to see fields of over 100 deer in them including seeing a dozen or more bucks that looked huge. Now you are lucky to see a field with...

CWD conversations that are worth the time to watch

Our land is in Sauk County which is one of the hot spots for CWD. We have had 5 bucks 3.5+ test positive for CWD. I can say our population has grown in the last 5 years and is at a point where deer need to be shot to keep the herd in check. I will say we dont have as many bucks reaching 5.5+...

    Minnesota is a national embarrassment.

Isn't law enforcement trained to keep shooting until the situation is resolved?

Cwd podcast that is actually very good

My question is, when the dnr brings in sharp shooters to an area to get rid of deer, how do they get deer to congregate in a close proximity to a blind? They put out piles and piles of shelled corn..... you're telling me that every single deer that will visit that site will get harvested? Not a...

    Wisconsin Opener

Saw close to 30 deer opening day. Only 2 of those were bucks. Sunday morning shot a big doe. Found out that neighbors shot our #1 and #2 hit list bucks. Next year isn't looking good for bucks.

Which CWD Approach Better - WI Let It Happen or Kill Them To Save Them?

I can honestly say we have found dead bucks on our place. We had pictures of a 4.5 yr old buck all summer and fall, seemed healthy and about December 1st we noticed he wasn't looking right. Figured it was the rut until we got pics late December and he looked sickly. Found him dead early January...

MDC stoops to a new low, kill 12 bucks a year.

Wisconsin has it where if you shoot a cwd positive deer, they will re-issue you another tag that's good for that year and the next. My cousin has shot I believe 3 bucks that have been positive and thus has 2 buck tags for bow hunting most years. Wisconsin should be used in a seminar on what...

What is the Highest Scoring Buck You Have Taken?

My biggest was a bow kill in 2018 that went 187.

    Realistic expectations

I always thought as long as you had a good amount of ag around, a buck with good genetics could reach 150+ if given age. Where we are at in South central Wisconsin, ag is all over and thus we see bigger bucks. One thing that I can't quite wrap my head around is how northern Wisconsin used to...

    Realistic expectations

We've killed a 187, 167, 160, and a 150 off our 63 acres along with a few other 4.5+ yr old lower scoring bucks. Our neighbors constantly say, we wish we could shoot big ones like you and say they are gonna pass the 2.5 and 3.5 year olds but every year it's the same story, we'll he looked big...
