Who are you?

I live in NE wi , southern door county. I grew up in the fox valley. My education background is wildlife but i have been in the sporting goods industry my entire life. Manufacturers rep for the last 19 years and in retail before that. Live on 40 acres that I manage intensively as i possibly can. I have learned a lot from the old QDMA forums and now from this forum. Great resource with lots of knowledge on here!

Hello All, been hunting and reading anything I could get my hands on for years. Making improvements and planting FPs on other people's property has really been fun and improved our hunting. I finally got a house with a few acres of my own this past year. In SW Ohio a somewhat rural area.

Already ordered a few hundred trees & shrubs for this spring and after moving in Aug. managed to sneak in a little FP. Cutting dead Ash now but looking to make a long term plan for the place and seems to be a lot to learn here.

Welcome aboard. Quite a few small property managers on here. Hopefully you can get some ideas from them.

Hello everyone! My name is Coy and I live in central Virginia. I am about to close on 43 acres in a nearby county and I am looking forward to doing some habitat work on a property that I can call my own. I have been frequenting Deer Hunter Forum and recognize quite a few of the names from that site so I thought I'd join up over here as well. You can never have too much knowledge! I have already been developing a plan for this year with the hopes that I can start to provide the best habitat for the wildlife in my area and I look forward to hearing/sharing stories and knowledge with you guys for years to come.

Nothing as exciting as closing on a new piece of land!

I live in central Alabama, have 40 acres that I on-again off-again try to manage. Very busy with family and athletic daughters. Trying to get back into some land management this year. I remember a lot of you guys from the old QDMA forum and have really enjoyed looking over the many threads on here. Anyway, that's my story in a nutshell, can't wait to get to learning and applying what I learn to my "40 acre wood".

Mark

Glad you're here with us Mark..

My name is also Mark. Guess I better get an avatar before this gets confusing.

I live in Coshocton Ohio. Been doing habitat management for quite awhile. Found this site a month or two ago, and have really enjoyed it, haven't seen the bickering and arguing that you see on other sites. A lot of good information that is about more than just food plots. Hope to learn some things and hopefully help someone else from the mistakes I've made.

Glad to have you join us. It's not Sunday school around here but we do try to keep the BS down a bit and encourage the ignore button if someone really irks you :). Otherwise It's counter productive to encouraging new folks to participate.

39 years old, married, father of a 6 year old boy. We hunt our family farm that we have hunted my whole life. Mostly ag fields along a river so my goal is to manage the habitat to hunt bigger and provide as much quality food through the winter for both deer and turkey. I have taught over 2000 students Hunter Safety in MD and volunteer with our local 4H Shotgun club. I coach t-ball and soccer and spend too much of my time working.

Welcome!

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the best place on the internet.

Welcome to a great place to pic up tips and plan new habitat/farm projects and show yours...whether planting building cooking hunting or just spending time with friends and family we share it all here.

My name is Ken, i go by Capn because that's what a lot of my friends have called me for years and it just stuck. I live in Oklahoma City. I'm 60, been married for 39 years and have 26 yr. old boy girl twins. They both hunt with me and although my son got married 2 yrs ago and missed the last 2 seasons, he is back to his upbringing now, and has been helping me on the land.
I have been in the turf / tree care and landscape business for over 30 years. I have worked for the last 10 yrs or so as a sales rep for a large fertilizer and chemical distributor. I'm into deer hunting, fishing, growing and planting mast producing trees, gardening, and I play blues harp in 3 different bands.
My job puts me in touch with a lot of land owners, farmers and ranchers. I have been fortunate to have been hired by the guy I lease hunting land from. He wants me to do habitat improvement and the planting of mast trees on several 1000 acres in Kingfisher county in Oklahoma. I really just got started this winter with plantings and the projects he wants done, but it's very rewarding to be able to do what ever I think will be best for the property. I have gained a lot of knowledge from sites like this and am putting it to good use. I found the QDMA site after talking to them at a tradeshow and then a couple of months later they abandoned all of us. I also have been a part of the Deer Hunter Forum and see a lot of the same friendly folks over here too. I'm not a big tv watcher, I'd rather listen to music, play music, watch an OU football game, work on a project, or read and learn on a site like this.
