Who are you?

Welcome Wayne, I am in NE PA as well. Paul

Thanks guys. Took me a whIle to find this forum after the other one went down. Glad I did.

Paul, are you PaulO from Huntingpa?

I've already put a post on this thread but thought I'd share a little bit about what I do. I was an auto mechanic by trade for 21 years but for the last 35 years I've also been a martial artist. It's all I've done since the year 2000. I've owned my own school for over twenty-five years. Here's a YouTube link to something I'm very proud of. I've been teaching a weekly free class for teenagers and adults with Down Syndrome for the last five years. There are about forty students in this class. They got to perform yesterday during halftime at the Pujols Family Foundation All Star game at Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis.

Wow. Just wow. Some people just do the coolest things. You should be very proud of that.

I'm sure it's not unlike what most of the really knowledgeable people on this forum experience. You feel like you have something to offer that can make a difference in the lives of others and in the end it's your own life that is impacted the most.

My name is Dan and married to a wonderful wife and have two young kids. The older one (3 yrs old) already loves animals and the woods!

I work in the finance world and saving my pennies for some land.

I hunt with my family on our family land and lease land with my brothers. We hunt North of Green Bay, WI. We love planting food plots and fruit trees! Our deer are spoiled. I've only shot one buck in the past 10 years which is fine because I love the hunt more than the harvest. I've enjoyed watching my family and neighbors shoot some nice bucks over those years.

We have enjoyed getting to know our neighbors better through semi annual social events that we host. We are working towards building acceptance and respect between neighbors and also encourage neighbors with common goals to work together to reach those goals. We have avoided talk of Trophy management and QDMA and concentrated more on education through collecting local data on deer mortality in the area and just did our first buck survey. We send surveys to our neighbors collect information on their opinions, hunter numbers, acres hunted, etc. It's been a fun and exciting endeavor and hunting has gotten a lot more fun as we communicate with and encourage our neighbors.

We keep an annual hunting journal with funny stories and notes from our hunts. It's a lot of fun to read those old stories and preserve our family history of hunting!

Our area is below average for the state for deer quality, but it is where I will always hunt and I hope my son and daughter will want to add to those memories someday!

My name is Chad from northern Douglas County, WI along the Minnesota border. Married with two girls, ages 8 and 5. Full time food plotter for northern WI and MN. I started from scratch several years ago using a borrowed walk behind tiller on my own plots, last year I planted 67 food plots from 1/4 acre plots up to 20+ acres fields using a wide range of equipment. A disciple of Paul Knox....I never met the man, but learned and continue to learn from the massive amount of information he put out there, along with others on forums past and present.

Previously worked as a Paramedic and owned/operated a Crime Scene Cleanup company in MN and WI.

U.S. Marine combat veteran-Iraq 3 tours infantry 2003-2006

Own 90 acres and lease an additional 35.

Black River Food Plots on Facebook

This is the best site I've been on over the years, so thanks to everyone who contributes!

Welcome Chad and thank you for your service to our country. Sounds like you have vast knowledge and experience planting food plots. I'm looking forward to seeing you share some of it with those less knowledgeable/experienced.

Let me second the "Thank you, for your service to us"

Welcome aboard!

Thanks for your service, Chad !! Additional input / knowledge always welcome here. I've learned a ton on here, thanks to many good guys.

My name is Codie, I'm from Goochland County, Virginia. I am 24 years old studying Environmental Biology at Radford University. After high school I went straight to work in a garage but after a few years I decided to enroll myself into college and get a degree. I am passionate about habitat management and hope to one day start my own habitat management company. The overall hunting style in central Virginia is a lot different than many other places around the country. There is almost no food plot/habitat management companies around, hopefully I can change this. I have taken the QDMA deer steward level 1 class and will soon be getting my red card for wild land fires and will be soon taking part in my first prescribed burn. I plan to use the knowledge I have learned throughout my time at college and my passionate hard working style to pursue my dream career.

Welcome Codie. My quote above nearly guarantees your success. I have a few years on you, and way too many kids think they deserve success. Hard work and a good attitude will beat the entitlement attitude all day long.

Lots of great people here with tons of knowledge they are willing to share.

Welcome Codie

SI,
How did I miss this.
Really great thing you're doing.

Hi, I'm Bob. Couldn't think of a user name so came up with slugger as we are in the shotgun zone.
I live in Little Falls, Mn and have 40 acres and a cabin 20 mins west, across the road from Stu's.
I attended Tech School for Marine and Small Engine Mechanics. I spent 25 years in the biz, with about 10 of that working for the Larson/Glastron Boat Co. and being part of the Ski Doo race team. I was Race Director for the National SnoCross Circuit for 2 yrs.
I too enjoy working on mechanical things and some woodworking. I did a frame off restoration of an 81 CJ 8 Scrambler Jeep and enjoy that in the summer.
When the economy tanked it was hard to keep a good job in the Marine Industry so I decided to change careers and got my Real Estate license and went to work. I ended up getting hooked up with Stu and helped him buy his current property. I had always thought about improving the hunting in our area but really didn't know how to go about it until I met Stu. I have seen the results he has obtained in just a couple years. I have lots to do on my land and look forward to getting started. My biggest problem is finding the time. I look forward to the day I retire and can spend as much time as I want working on the land.
As a real estate agent, I am willing to travel, so if you need help finding or purchasing or selling land, I would be happy to help. We do have some good hunting land listed in our area.

Lets see a pic of the Scrambler. Love the Jeeps.

My name is Rich and I am 52, married with three kids and a dog. I live in B'ham, AL and I have hunted, mainly deer, all my life. I fell in love with QDM and QDMA in 1994 and in 2005, I bought a Kubota 60hp, 4X4 with FEL tractor and implements and fell in love with food plotting and habitat mgmt. I am primarily a bow hunter and haven't killed a buck since 2012 but that's ok as I've passed many mature bucks up and, because I bow hunt, had more than a few ALMOST kills but something always seems to happen. But that's ok as my two sons, 17 and 19, have harvested mature bucks for the past few years so I work to get them on mature bucks. My 13 yr old daughter missed what would have been her first buck this past Jan and she's elected to pass up several immature bucks (her choice as she's never killed a buck).

I am one of five ppl that lease a beautiful 5100+ ac tract of land with 16 total members in the hunting club in SW Alabama and we manage our deer herd with logic and selflessness! We actually have 16 members who are NOT greedy and it's a lot of fun.

I am a VP of a medical device company (mainly spine) and I spend my spare time with family and at our lease on my tractor doing something to improve our land or attempting to eliminate the hogs as I hate them!

I am a food plotting lover as well as a habitat enhancer.

War Eagle!

Rich
