Trespassing signs

Heard shots today somewhere in my forest......sadly not coming from my gun. Anyone buy no trespassing signs in bulk anywhere? Favorite method for attaching to a tree? Some of mine popped off the nails after only a year.

Not so sure about the best price but Voss Sign makes good ones. Their premium posted sign is thick and self supporting.

In the timber I carry a small aluminum step ladder and get them above easy tear off height. I use long aluminum roof nails and leave at least 1/2 inch of the head out of the tree. This gives the tree growing room so the signs are not naturally popped off to soon.

Met a guy once who put up signs that said the land was leased for hunting at $#,### per day. Once the GW caught the poachers he sued them for lease payments... and had proof that they hunted his land at least one day due to being caught by the GW.

Do you have a color code where you live? Purple paint on a fence post or tree means no hunting without written permission. It's legal and no signs needed in KS.

Thanks for the Voss Sign idea. They look good.

No color code law in Indiana I believe.

I like the leased hunting land sign idea. I kind of doubt you could win that case without proving the rate was legitimate and they saw the sign......but if you have a friend or relative that is a lawyer and your goal is to cause financial pain by making them defend themselves in court, might be fun.

I keep thinking about ordering these.

That's what I use. I love them. And I do just what Bill does. I carry a lightweight ladder with me and get them up high out of tear off height even when there's 3' of snow. I use an aluminum nail and leave a little space. These sign are awesome. The wind doesn't buffet them as much. No need for a backer board. Highly visible. Customizable with you name and address. And made in the USA. And then at the corners of my property and all major access points or potential problem areas I put up the loner orange 3D signs.

Serious Property signs also makes a neat little 4"x4" mini-sign that reads something like "Warning: Trail Cams in Use. Trespassers will be prosecuted." Got a bunch of those out on trees in between the larger signs.

Go ahead and check your state's laws, just to be sure. I know in IL we have a purple paint law, but it is quite specific. There are mark height and size requirements, as well as spacing along the property line requirements. You also have to post all entry points. If you're going to post, might as well follow the letter of the law, just in case.

The other fellas have made some good suggestions. I need to order myself some more signs, so I'm going to check these out.

I hate to say it, but trespassers will trespass anyhow. I like to leave my phone number on the main sign. So if someone needs to get ahold of you, they can.

No purple paint law in Indiana. Trespass requires proving they saw a sign (impossible), or a previous order not to trespass. "Hunting without Consent" does not require signage or previous warning. Prosecute when you get the chance, it does more than any sign.

Sadly as of this year IN doesn't have the color code law on the books, but it is a great thing to do as it is widely known and acknowledged as a sign of private property. Just another easy way to illustrate property lines and another measure you can show the judge when pressing charges of you making it VERY clear of where lines are.

Thanks everyone. Ordered 100 new signs today.

I use the metal “No Tresspassing” signs. Ebay was the best deal I found to buy in volume, I attach them to a pine board then screw them onto a 1”X1” 5’ post.

I already got my order from serious property markers. They look great. Thanks guys!
