Storage Containers

I know there is some old threads on here about guys converting them into storage sheds on their properties. Unfortunately it seems that most of the photos have been lost due to photobucket. I am strongly considering one and adding a lean on the side. My question is to the guys that have one, are you happy with them and also looking for some advice in how they went about adding windows and doors. And would love to see some photos on what you have done modifying them.

I have two of them and love them. I would suggest you put vents on opposite ends for ventilation. Did this last year and it really helps with moisture.

Alright good to know, did you add anything else?

Yes I added shelves and wood to the side by making angle iron brackets that hang from the hooks. I would buy a container that is a one trip or two trip container if your budget affords it.

What do these containers cost? Would be a nice instant she'd with no need for permits

Depending on the quality $1500 and $4000 look them up on Craigslist in your area.

Like see some pics of the vents you put in,

I can get some off the web from the company I bought them from or you need to wait a month until I get back.

I have 2 and put one of those carport canopy's between them.I just used a jig saw and cut a hole then screwed a foundation vent covering on and no issues. If you do a search on shipping containers it will explain the different metals and what to look for.I would also set on crushed rock

If I could do it over, I'd get one with doors on both ends, & the tallest available.

Doors on both sides are nice.

Can you post some pics?

I wasn't aware that they came in different heights. Did you get a 40' or 20'? I am thinking of just a 20 but would like to add a side entry door with glass to let a little light in.

High cube container is 1 ft taller and 6 inches wider. Ended up with 2-20's. Hindsight is always 20-20. I'd go with biggest I could get, if I could do it over, you can always use the storage.

I can save a lot of money if I haul it myself. The thing is I was planning on just using a 10,000 pound rated car trailer. To get over the fenders it would need to be blocked up. So it would end up 12' in the air. It would also stick over the end by a couple feet. Just trying to make sure that this would be fine as far as being legal. And would anyone see any issues?

Pay the freight.

There is a guy near Mora I believe who ships containers all over Mn. I believe he is on Craigslist.

I got mine from Rapid Rental in Grand Rapids. It's a 40' high top and I paid $3200 delivered to my location near Orr MN. It's not a 1 tripper. But it's tight.

Mine were delivered on rollback car wrecker
