So who still has apples hanging

^^^^^ Our Kerr hang late here too. But ours got picked this fall by 2-legged critters !! We're very happy with Kerr.

I am in Zone 5 and still have Arkansas Blacks and Gold Rush hanging tight. I need to replace three trees in my hunting plots next year. What other ones hang a long time? I ask as I start to review this thread.

I am also in zone 5 and in addition to my Ark black and Goldrush, my best late hangers include: Galarina, Kerr and Sundance.

I have several Galarina, but they are younger and don't produce more than the coons can eat, birds and bees can destroy.

I was in a stand right to the right of this Galarina when this doe came in. I also have Honeycrisp, Honey Gold, Gala, Fuji, Ida Red, enterprise Dolgo and Liberty hanging.

Great pic, Maya !! Your Galarina looks good. We have 3 of them now at camp - I hope they do as well as yours in this pic.

Much train traffic on that track ?? Do they bother the deer when they go past ??

Gold rush are still hanging tight. I picked these at the top of the tree after the photo and they took quite a pull to remove. IMG_5625.JPG

Okay, I am not biting Maya. This has to be trick photography :). No cage, no rub marks on the tree from bucks, and apples hanging. My deer have learned to climb on each other's backs to get apples. They would destroy that tree in one night.

^^^^^ Very nice trees. Looks like bright future for your critters' menu CE !!

My apples are all mush now after the deep freeze we had last week. I had a ton of apples still hanging and hope the deer will still eat them

I've seen deer eat dropped mushy apples under some trees near my camp. Tracks in snow all winter long to pick up the drops. I think they'll eat yours. :emoji_wink:

Yes I am sure they do and will remove a few cages hehe

I have Enterprise and Galarina still hanging. The hard freeze last week turned them into mush.

Those are some real nice trees Ed. Are the pictures in the same order as your variety list?

No tricks, just typical Vermont. We don't have many mature bucks, low deer numbers and tons of wild apples. You can't drive 100 yards down my road without seeing a wild apple. Most years apples rot on the ground around here, but there are a few they really want. Galarina is certainly one of them.

Same here but Galarina are still fairly firm.

Nice pics everyone
