I have narrowed down my best results in planting brassica to July 11th in west central MN. thru much trial and error. Of course it depends on weather, but this seems to be the time I get the best crop. I then add in some winter rye about middle to late August and that time frame works well also. A little further north I wouldn't hesitate to get them in a week earlier.
I certainly wouldn't skip brassica(radish), at least not a one time trial. My deer at home won't touch them, but the deer at the farm tear them up.
