I agree with you. I think many honey “experts” prefer the darker, more flavorful honeys. Most of the general honey eating population prefers the clearer honeys - as do the quantity purchasers.

This is my buckwheat honey. Buddy had just pasture honey that was much lighter and a less “gamey” flavor than my buckwheat.

"gamey" honey?!?!

Just added deep bodies and supers to my 2 colonies

Keeping bees is as addictive as planting baby trees

Yeah I brought some to work and several tried it and said it was too gamey. I eat it on toast daily. Plums will be blooming. About time for the super and screened bottom board.

I prefer the buckwheat honey's bolder flavor and buy all that the Amish have when we go to their store.

I have 25 hives - scattered in three different yards. A guy planted five acres of buckwheat about a 1/4 mile from three of the hives. I could tell it was darker honey when I decapped it. I processed those three supers by themselves. It was darker than the honey shown above. I sell some honey at a farmers market. Put both wildflower honey and buckwheat honey out at the same time - wildflower - much lighter - sells ten to one. My wife wont eat it. I kind of like it. I had one guy who bought all I had to make meade.

The buckwheat honey we have is really dark - like really dark maple syrup. Our son bought it from a country store near us. We all like it.
