Buddy of mine sent me some photos of what looks to be an invasive, but you can see how it's being heavily browsed by the deer in the third photo. Also, there's a picture of a small shrub with red berries. I have my own idea as to what these are, but I'd like to get some other opinions?

Looking at the photo on my phone, looks like jewelweed. If so, I'd leave it alone. Likes wet areas on us and grows in sun or shade. Browsed some.

The shrub is spice bush.
I used to think deer didn't browse it at all but last year I videoed deer feeding heavily on the leaves. I think it was on this forum that I posted pics of the encounter.
I found the thread. The OP subject was about deer avoiding plots (in case you want to see the pics I posted).
And jewel weed is a highly preferred native forage around most deer herds.

I wish that the invasives I find on my land could turn out to be desirable native browse. Good for him. I'll have to get some seeds next year. Thanks for the help.

I think that a lot of times what we HAVE LEFT are the undesirable invasives because the deer hammer all the good stuff and the crap stuff no longer has competition so it then flourishes.
