Old Corncrib Into Small Shop

Looks good. Love the video from the drone. I got to get me one of them.

Looking good!

I love re-purposing old builds. But I still end up with an old building that nothing is the size I need!

Just nice to have some space that is not in the garage at home. No matter how big a building it will always get filled with stuff.

Case in point. My neighbor (big farmer) built a shop. 120'x80' with 24' sidewalls. His son has been buying forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts and Skidloaders at auction to rebuild and sell. He is doing very well with it. The shop built 18 months ago is now packed full.

He is getting very good at flying the drone and taking video/pictures. He has shot a commercial for a hunting show and he has done lots of field checks for flooding.

I'm guessing the drone is DJI, do you know what model it is & what camera he has?

I can relate! I have 5 pole barns on my farm in MN for the farm operation and my chemical business. They is always packed!

But that is why we build them!

Finally looking like a shop. Those are two 2x12's for rafters.

Higher ceiling in the front for the 10x12 overhead door.

Also got the old tin off the roof.

Coming along nicely, I assume the higher rafter placement in the for is for a hoist?

Menards has the 4200 lumen/ 50 Watt lights on sale for $25. I bought ten.

Got some circuits terminated this morning. Off to a barbecue.

I like the fact you put the wiring in BX instead of Romex. Good Job!

Romex run through the center of those studs with nail guards installed would be safer than that exposed BX.

Says who? You?

Yes, but I'm sure you are going to tell me why I'm wrong.

Of Course, some people need to hear the truth.

Since it looks like he is not going to finish the inside walls right now and has limited access behind the plywood that is there, it makes good sense to have the wires protected. And since rats love to sharpen their teeth on the exposed wires, it is great way to keep that from happening.

Romex is a great cheap application in a home, not in a corn crib.

Fair enough. Either way I still would've ran those wires through the studs. Heck of a lot easier to do now that everything is in the early stages of construction vs trying to do it a year or two from now when the place if filled up with stuff.

As with my sheds once its filled up with crap, you will never have to worry about how the wiring is......
