Nut/seed exchange

I know some of the members here frequent another forum where this is common, but I wanted to open it up here as well. The intent is to use our country wide network and facilitate the process of swapping/selling nuts and seed between our members. In many cases this can be a great way to experiment with growing different mast producing plants that you may not otherwise have access to. As summer fades into fall mother nature's mast is starting to become available. Acorns are on trees, fruit is ripening and the like.

So if you have something your looking for OR something you may have an excess of that you are willing to share....PLEASE make a post here. Nothing within reason is off the table.... I know we will have access to different acorn types and soft mast and all sorts of things. Just remember that here is nothing wrong with diversity. Make your "wish list" or your "inventory list" and let the cards fall where they may. I have participated in these things before and I enjoy helping others get some seed as well as have some sawtooth oaks now on my place specifically because of threads like this!

I should have access to:

Native paw-paw
Swamp white oak
maybe some chinkapin oak (the big one - NOT DCO)

I’ve got Allegheny Chinkapins again this year. Would be happy to send some to anyone who wants them. They’re usually ready around the first week of October.

Looking for DCO and Concordia Oak acorns, if anyone has some available.

I have a lot extra of Chinese chestnut seeds that I collected and some early variety sawtooth seeds if anyone is interested. Possibly some mid to late October sawtooths that I collected as well. Just pay shipping, I believe around $8 for 2 day priority.

I would gladly pay shipping and then some for any Oaks (or Chestnuts) that are hardiness zone 5 or better.

Technically I am in hardiness zone 5A by the map and I haven't had any problems with any of the trees that I planted that were rated for zone 5 considering last winter we had several weeks of sub-zero temps I was surprised they made it as young as some of them are. Our DEC only offered Sawtooths in a sample pack so to speak with Sawtooths, Chestnut Oak, Red and White Oaks, they only offered 4 of each but all of them are still green today so maybe zone 5 is more accurate than I think.

I have bebbs oak, burgambel, and a english oak in zone 5a. All but the burgambel is dropping. Usually have gobbler sawtooth but not this year and no chestnut. For the cost of shipping.

Looking for English Oak if they become available at some point! Shipping/fee not a problem.

Does anyone happen to have some Allegheny Chinkapins they would be willing to get rid of? Thanks!

I would take 4-5 English oak if you still have some
Thanks

How many english oaks would each of you like to obtain. Interestingly enough, english oaks are the one type of white oak tree that produces almost every year; not many white oak species demonstrate that type of production. I know someone who has access to english oak acorns; however, I have no idea what quantities he can provide. Hence my question about quantities you desire.

I would only need 4 or 5 acorns. Hopefully that would get me a couple trees.

Looks like they are hardy in zone 4? I'd be interested for sure.
