Live from the stand thread

Bueller and Peeps,
Those fields look nice. We've had some rain but mine are looking a bit thin still.

Was a fun sit tonight for my first full evening sit of the season. I saw a porcupine, 3 does, and had a hawk take a break on a branch 10 ft away from my head. My son also saw a porcupine and a doe with twins.

Went out Friday afternoon, lots of fox squirrels..an owl..a bunch of cool small birds and one buck thrashing a tree about sixty yards from me. It was just to thick yet to get more than just glimpses of him. The little noseeum bugs were biting like crazy and the last hour of the day mosquitos were terrible.

Major cool down here today. Might get our first frost tonight. Think I will give it a shot in the morning.

Good luck! We didn't see a thing Thursday plus I lost my phone going to the stand which really made a lfts post difficult.

I see now they are saying we might see a snow flake or two in the morning. That would be neat as it rarely snows before I hang up the hunting bow for the season. Any snow we get wont last this time of year.

Send that cold weather up north.

It didnt get quite as cold last night as they expected, cloud cover held on until 9 am. I did see 4 small bucks, the biggest being a 4x4 2.5 yr old. Didnt look like he will ever be a monster. Body was considerably larger than the 1.5 yr old buck he was with, but he had a small rack with nubs for brow tines. I will try a different stand in the morning.

Is that strap marks from an old stand on that tree? ^^^^^
Your in a good spot if that is what it is...I was putting a stand up last year and found old boards in tree next to me...must have been a good location for a lot of years.
Looks like the previous owner might not have loosened their straps after season.

I don’t know the answer to that question. I wondered what could cause that actually. Part of these woods were timbered in the past. I thought maybe a girdling job that didn’t work. They’re pretty straight rings around for sure. You may be on to something.
