Squab just for fun :)
He should have known better than to fly by aimlessly...

We never pass on a pigeon..especially a neat looking one. We usually get a few while dove hunting, I breast them out and cook them with the doves.

Any leg bands?

Any leg bands?

Nope, we used to average around 50% bands on geese here now we are lucky to get one every hundred geese, ducks have stayed consistent with a band about every hundred birds.

Does wild Canadian geese or duck taste good?

You report them all to the DOI?

H20 - will have to knock down a few pigeons next go round to give em a try. Imagine they must be like an overgrown dove.

If you've never tried it your missing out. Like all things, its in who an how its made.
Personally goose legs are my favorite and willingly trade goose breasts for the legs an thighs straight up in my hunting party.
Breaks my heart to see most hunters toss them out.

Ducks are good, I prefer teal an wood duck over mallards.
Just don't make the mistake of shooting a gadwall. I would rather eat an old shoe.

Does wild Canadian geese or duck taste good?

Heck yes, we eat a lot of it at our house. Some species are better than others for taste and it depends on what they have been eating, around here most are feeding in crop fields.
Canada geese are a lot like beef, meat is same look and texture and they eat the same food as a cow.

Here it is to the USGS, they used to send a decent looking certificate with the info now its just an internet confirmation showing info.

Some I have gotten;

I live ten miles from a local waterfowl refuge, they used to band pretty hard. I even helped with the banding for years...now they don't band very many, I guess they have most of the info they needed.

Our last day of Canada season was Sunday. I hadnt even been out this year for geese, lack of birds in my local area and lack of time. A friend mines son has turned into a waterfowl slayer and is always texting me pics and invites. Finally took him up on it. 8 man limit of Canadas a mix of big ones and short beakers, and 2 juvie snows that didnt learn fast enough. Took most of day for the birds to go out to feed due to the cold weather, but when they did it was pretty steady shooting.
