Just because

H20fwler

5 year old buck +
I grew up on a farm and have always like the older farm equipment, so now that I have some land of my own I thought I would decorate each of the places up just a little with some old stuff.
I browsed Craigslist and found an old horse drawn IH two row corn planter that looked perfect for my project. I called the guy up and arranged to pick it up this past Monday and made an afternoon of it with the wife. Took it out to the farm and dropped it off at the end of the orchard where it will rest until it dissolves into rust decades from now. Now it is permanent bunny habitat.
I'm going to get an old hay rake to put out on the corner of the other farm, I'm going to stick with the horse drawn theme.
My wife doesn't get the why in buying and putting the old stuff out but my sons do and I get a kick out of seeing it there.

Very cool. I love that old farm stuff.

Iv got some old mule plows in my woods that I need to get out before timber crew comes cutting.

Looks great H!

I am surrounded by Amish pukes. I have seen enough of that old equipment to last a lifetime!

I get where you are coming from. I grew up working with equipment like that. My grandfather had a Super H tractor but still used his mules for a lot of work, just because he loved doing it so much. I've set acres and acres of tobacco behind a mule drawn setter.

PS: We still have the Super H, and use it to mow the tree planting in the spring with a Bushhog as old as the tractor. I have other tractors, some with cabs and cool air, but none of them feel as good under my seat as the Super H.

Glad you found what you were looking for, and hope you enjoy.

I would be trying to plant corn with that planter lol

Super H! Awesome! First tractor I ever drove.

Added another piece this weekend to the opposite side of the orchard.
I think it is a hay turner or tedder?

It was missing the seat and a few parts on the front but should look good once it "grows in" some.

How much more of that old crap you want? Our swamp is full of it! Serious!

I'm wanting to put an old horse drawn hay rake in the corner CRP strip at my little woods! I may have to wait until next winter the field will be bean stubble next fall/winter and I'll be able to drive right to it, it's plowed corn stubble right now.

Two pieces at the bigger orchard is enough for that spot, something for the bunnies to hide under and me to enjoy seeing. The orchard is a little over an acre, I have one piece at the south end one at the north.
When the metal prices went crazy high seven or eight years ago lots of the old metal farm equipment around here got sold for scrap...intentionally or flat out stolen.
We also have a lot of Amish around here that buy the horse drawn stuff up for parts or to restore and use.

So do you plan to use it or is it just for decoration. My hood is full of horse drawn equipment because of the Amish. Much of that equipment is perfect for a guy for small pots to pull with an ATV, with the exception of a plow.

Yep, pretty much just for decoration.....and bunny cover.
I like the way the old stuff looks after it has grown in some. I'm going to get a hay rake next winter for the other farm then that will be it on the old stuff for me.

If nothing else that thing is making for some good harvest pictures.
Where's the shot of th deer in front of it?

Good idea and beautiful pictures!
