JD 7000 dry fertilizer opener

Looking for 2 dry fertilizer openers. I found 2 in Hardinsburg, KY just south west of Louisville but they are pick up only. If one lived close to that location I would pay for pick up and shipping. Please PM me.

Found my fertilizer openers. They range from $350 each new @ shoup down to $75 each what I found in KY. I couldn't make it up there so I found a nice guy in Indian that delivered 2 for $250. Not the easiest thing to ship since they are about 40 lbs each.

Since I don't have a drill right now and am trying to not turn soil I'm trying to convert my planter into a small drill. I tried using my fertilizer box this fall with a mix of wheat, crimson, vetch, radish. I pushed the openers as far inside as they would go. For the finger pick up I used frost master pea. It worked out pretty good.

I was thinking that I could get away with planting and lightly turning the soil with S tines so I purchased 2 and mounted them on my planter. I was going to drill my cover crop mix and then come back and spread more wheat where the bare soil was exposed. The plan didn't work. the S tines clogged up pretty thick with residue so I took them off and just ran the planter. Now my plan is to take the extra openers and mount them on the outside of the rows, where the S tines were located. The trick for me though is figuring out how to dump equivalent seed out of the fertilizer box down 4 tubes. My solution so far is to stick two smaller tubes into the top open auger spout and fill the spaces so seed is forced down the two tubes. May or may not work. I will keep you guys posted.

Here's an update on my planter/drill project. In order to move seed from the fertilizer box to 4 openers I rigged up a double tube inside one tube. It's not perfect but it looks like it will work. Now I will have to see how much seed I use per acre. Thanks for looking.

Hey guys, here is an update on my planter fertilizer drill convert. I'm planting a combination of beans in my row units with a mix of summer cover crop seed and the other fields I'm planting corn in the row units with beans in the fertilizer hopper.

The seed is coming out pretty heavy so I added a few fillers to spread out the mix. Since I'm not using much NPK I put in some lime and grain rye. It seamed to work pretty good this morning. The second thing I encountered was clogging. I put in some larger tubes and I ran it this morning and visually it worked pretty good. I will keep ya posted on the outcome.

Looks good . In the future if you have replace them or redo them , keep an eye open on old farms for old equipment or public auctions on farms or farm equipment dealers for trade ins.
