How old is this dude?

Yes read his reply...
I thought maybe I misunderstood it or spell check altered it.
So why does he want us to guess the age, based on a single pic with a so so angle, that was taken in July (the worst time of the year to judge deer) of a deer that's been dead for 5 years?
It's not like the deer is still alive and a target animal, or that he's testing our aging skills. The animal is dead and there's no way any of our judgements really matter.
No trying to be a rude smart ass but I don't get the reason for the question. And to the poster...please don't take offense...none intended.
I'm just trying to understand the reason for the thead.

Good question. I agree with you that the picture is of a date that is difficult to age deer. I also agree that it is a three-year-old.

Because I have almost no experience judging age of deer. I just started hunting bucks specifically after getting a big one last year. The photo is from a property and region recently started hunting, and I joined this site to learn more about hunting deer, especially bucks.

I didn't think there was a rule, nor do I think there should be, that we can only talk about living bucks during certain months. Quite the contrary. I would like to learn as much as I possibly can about deer and deer hunting.

If you feel my posts are a waste of your time, you are under no obligation to participate.

This is my 4th post in this thread, so obviously I don't consider your posts a waste of my time.
If you'll please go back and re-read the sequence of my posts, you'll see that I went from trying to be helpful to being a little confused. That's all. I was not trying to be insulting towards you. I'm sorry if you took it that way.
I've been a reader and contributor on thousands of threads over the last 10 years and I gotta say that I can't ever remember someone asking opinions on the age of a buck that was killed 5 years ago. No problem in asking.
And no, this is no rule about asking any questions on this forum as far as I know. I think that our gang of guys are very eager to help and are quite welcoming. You got questions and want to learn? You've come to the right place.

I give you credit for wanting to learn more about the deer you pursue. Part of learning is understanding, not just being fed info. And if you want to learn how to field judge deer, understand that there are better times of the year to do so. One single summer time photo just cannot be relied upon for aging or scoring a buck.

There's an excellent book on the subject...
"Observing and Evaluating Whitetails" By Al Brothers.
It's a beautiful coffee table type book. Loaded with the highest quality photos and packed with great info. I highly recommend it for anyone serious about watching deer.
