Harvest Guidelines Discussion

Bill,

You're right, I'm being cautious but the data will be the deciding factor. While I think it is likely that we will remove the restrictions this year, there is a difference between lifting restrictions and the full out shooting every doe position we had been in for years. I'm thinking the guidance for our experienced hunters will be smart harvest of does. For example, if I see a doe with twins or a fawn that I can positively identify as a buck, she is worth shooting. In general, I'm less concerned about accidently shooting button bucks since our property is small enough that our buttons will normally relocate to areas well off our land. However, if you harvest mom, a button is much more likely to stay in his birth area.

Thanks,

jack
