Food plotting strategy

I get the one year one rotation. Being from Minnesota I just assumed that’s what jack was talking about.

I couldn’t understand the notion that there wasn’t enough time to grow a halfway decent crop of corn.

Turning a profit is a separate discussion and if your trying to provide for your family then I totally understand. Why plant something your going to loose money on.

I should just sit down, but I never seem to stay there very long! Can't speak for Jack. I'm sure he'll be along shortly. All I can say is the corn season here (Virginia and the entire southeast for the most part) isn't limited by the number of frost free days, but rather by lack of consistent summer rainfall. While some corn gets planted in late March, mid April is the right time so far as soil temps are concerned. Corn planted for production OR food plots is a real hit or miss proposition if its planted after April 30. If you look at 30-years of monthly weather data, often, July is the month with the most rainfall. Ironically, it's also the month most frequently associated with drought levels of rainfall.
