Flowers on an apple now?

Nova

5 year old buck +
Last weekend while at the farm checking my apple trees I noticed one has 2 flowers on it. The tree was damaged by deer on one branch, broke off the last 6-8" of the branch. 4" behind that the branch has 2 flowers on it. It is a honey crisp apple. Any idea why it would be flowering in September?

Trees get confused sometimes. Weather, stress, damage, frost, etc.

I have a wild apple tree in a fenceline that twice in the last fifteen yrs has flowered in late Oct with maybe a doz or two blossoms. The pattern seems to be get a cold enough late sept and first half of oct so all the leaves are gone then get one to two weeks really warm days and nights. Much warmer then typical for that time of year. More like early May weather when the light levels are probably not much different either which is typical bloom time for my home location

I've had it on a couple trees every few years. Defiantly odd. Usually in July.

Odd. I have 2 Honeycrisp I planted this spring as whips. One bloomed in August, one is blooming now.

Nature gets a little out of whack at times...I just had a hen turkey nesting last month.

I have a confused Gala right now. Two groups of buds on a branch with one showing red. 20171016_075400.jpg

Well this apple has gone wacky in the past and with the mild start to Fall this year is doing it again. We are almost a month past the normal time for getting a hard frost and still not any real cold in the long term forecast. This week has been sunny and hitting into the 70s. This tree drops apples (and leaves soon after) right around first part of Sept so already pretty bare by late Sept. Dozens of blossoms and industrious bees have been noticing the late fortune.
