First wildlife watering hole

IMG_1580.JPG IMG_1576.JPG IMG_1626.JPG I own a ridge--it's narrow and steep. Way back when it must have been clear and they ran cattle. There are a couple little holes that used to be ponds. One has a nice oak growing in the center of it so I left it alone. The other was still pretty clear. A friend of mine gave me a koi pond liner so I put it to use. Dug it out a bit and in a couple little rains we've had its already starting to fill up. It's in thick forest and should be a great spot in the early September opening here in ky. I took my boys the other day and there are already deer tracks around it. Should be a winner.

very nice,a water hole makes those early hot days productive.i also see alot of buck travel during rut around mine.I will say that maybe 1 out of 5 deer that come by it drink,it must be a social hub type area

I'm thinking of doing this on my back 40. There is a defunct pond back there, but it was sited incorrectly and probably installed wrong. I have an old hot tub we don't use (came with the property) and you can't give them away around here. I'm thinking of gutting it and using the tub much like you have.

It would be located just above my neighbor's pond so I think it would fill naturally. I need to get pics back there. Here's one pic I have.

Neighbor's pond is off to the left; defunct pond is to the right of the track down at the bottom. Property line is just past the downed horizontal black tree, so I'd have to move the road a bit. There is a wet weather spring coming in from the left - black line below the greenery on the left.
