First Post and a Throw & Mow Report (Updated report in CMT 4 - 30 July 2016)

Hi folks. I too am a transplant from the QDMA forum.

After reading all of the stuff there on throw & mow I finally got around to trying it last year on my three small food plots of 1/4 acre, 1/3 acre and 1/3 acre. (Actually, in this case it was Throw & Roll because the thatch was already pretty much laying down by the time I planted.)

The results were about the same on all three plots. The soil is sandy loam in S.E. Louisiana that had been disced in past years. Because it was my first attempt, I fully documented what I did and the results with pictures. Here they are.

Very nice!.....I need to try some chicory this year.

Will be doing the same thing this fall on sandy loam in Central WI.

END JULY UPDATE:

Glad you posted the cage pic. That really tells the story.

You ain't from around here :).

You're aviator doesn't give your location but I'm guessing the south. If I were to plant anything on 10/23 it may as well be spare change. Cause all I'd be putting down is money with no return.

Gotta love the south, early green up and late planting dates. Easy for me to say since we don't have your summer heat stress and lack off food.

Plots look good....
