Cultipacker and ATV pull behind grain drill Combo

If I was plotting several acres I would be interested in that drill for the right price.

Nice clean unit. I have both but someone could have everything in one purchase.

Wow that didn't last long. I hope someone here got it

Big Snow Man ... thanks for the heads up on these, just picked them up. :emoji_thumbsup:

Grain drill is a 9 row planter and has a large seed bin for corn, beans, etc and then a smaller front bin for grass seed. The fertilizer box needs work but everything is in good shape and has been stored inside.

Good deal I'm glad to help. I thought you wanted a no till for your tractor ? I have one that was refurbish by a guy down the road from you and I love it. I can no till it in my sand. This looks like a great combo in good condition. Why in the world was he getting rid of it ?

How much did you have to pay for those?

No till, min till, I'm not experienced in the language. I wanted a grain drill that I could adjust the depth and sure I was getting soil/seed contact. I should be able to have minimum surface disruption and do way better than hand bag seeding at distribution.

He bought a bigger tractor and also bought a 3 point drill. They have 600 plus acres of ag land and were doing 10-20 acres of food plots. he only owned for a year ...

If you want to convert that to a 3 pt I have the number of the guy who made mine. Not to hard to do. I thought Bueller would have been all over that deal.

Doesn't look like it has the weight needed for a no till. But so what you're not farming. Looks to me like it has coulters to cut a line, tubes to drop seed then chains to cover "ish" the seed. A no til would need press wheels in the back to close the trench.

I have a no til drill and can never get the stinking press wheels to work evenly anyway.

If it cuts a trench and drops the seed you're good. Because the seed is laying next to, in or on dirt.

Corn might need to be deeper. But everything else is golden and you didn't disk up a bunch of weed seed in the bank.

When you're done planting with the drill I know you're going to use that cultipacker to run everything over just because.

But eventually you'll learn the drill is good enough. My packer is rusting in the weeds now.

Bueller should have bought that :emoji_hushed:

Bill ... I agree. This will be a significant upgrade to my current planting method and will allow me to cover more ground. The fact that the disc level is controllable will help insure ground contact and I can follow-up with the cultipacker. I have been hand seeding with a bag seeder in the past.

I have often commented on here to folks to not focus on perfect but rather look for efficient & effective methods. I definitely have a learning curve with the grain drill but look forward to it.

Remember, this is a hobby and is supposed to be fun ... :emoji_sunglasses:

Nice score Tree Spud. Hope you run the heck out them!

Good score. Looks like an old JD van brunt cut down to be manageable size. The guys who refurb them buy old ones and split to make more money from two or one side is rusted/junk and the other half can be resurrected. A friend got 6 ft one for a grand, at that price totally ready good tires, seed tubes whatever. Pulls well with his utv. Best results with disced/worked ground. No till, not really.

you won't get NO TILL out of these types of seeders really due to there just too light, no way to control down force on things with them
you need to prep the soil to help them work
I just sold off not so long ago a real JD Van Burnt too LOL
but cannot get a pic to load though?? or would show?

I should clarify when I posted that. I'm in sand with a identical unit. I have sprayed gly to terminate the weeds and replant winter wheat each year without tilling anything up. It's the advantage when you play in a large sandbox.
