Building a Box Blind - Last Winters Project

Yup. I think as it gets warmer I will fit the top with screws and get it all framed out to size, tear down and rebuild in the woods. A fun winter project and a good way to break in the new shed.

On your next build make your windows wide enough to shoot a crossbow out of .If you have one. Also on your braces on your base ,if you use 2x4`s ,cut ends on an angle ,place them in an `x` in between your post. makes it real sturdy.

Well to be fair the base is going in place tomorrow and we will still have to build the top. It was too wet all year to drag it in place. But thats gonna be dragged about 400 yards with a 4 wheeler and its gonna be pretty tight quarters for all of it cuz its 5 feet wide. The last 50 is a mess of cedar blowdowns we need to saw a hole in first. On the brightside some nimrod on the public it will overlook already cut down 20 trees for me and made a nice shooting lane in the public land.

We had a 4 wheeler trail most of the way but of course I wanna get in there. The last 70 yards took 2 hours to chop out. 30 year old fallen cedar to notch out.

Well there was on to a stand not too far away but all the really big deer end up here. No big trees though. Problem solved.

Im actually gonna block off the last 20 for deer as i dnt need them in there. Its a dead end and a left hand tuen keeps them in our land and crossing other lanes and possibly other stands.

Broke in a new stihl today and that thing was a joy to work with.

Short video during the easy part. I had to push it around the tight spots about 10 times so I didnt get much more.

Completely forgot to add that my nephew took another deer out of the blind that started this thread opening day around 7:30. One well placed blast from his 243 tipped her right over. So we are 3 for 4 on opening day there.

This was his first solo sit and first walk to stand alone. Job well done by him. Cool uncle responsibilities left me to gut and drag as usual.
