Any cord cutters out there?

We recently moved. When we did I left the satellite service behind, installed an aerial antenna and plugged the internet into the TV.

Anyone else trying cord cutting?

Oops I thought this thread was about cutting the cord off a saw. Sorry

Not yet... but my internet service is pretty speedy so I am thinking about going to nothing but streaming. Can’t honestly see myself continuing to pay outrageous prices for tv.

We dropped satellite a few years ago. Went to a Roku and watched alot of shows on Netflix. Can't stand all the commercial now on TV so I would struggle to get dish again. Now we don't even watch Roku or Netflix anymore. Dropped home phone and internet when we got unlimited internet on cell phone for $40 bucks a month. House functions alot better now with everyone not glued to the TV and computer.

Yeah, don't envision going back either. Wish I did it sooner

29 now an don't have enough time in the day as is. Cant believe how much time the thing can waste.
Single an don't have kids yet, will change in the future but even then.
Don't want to bring them up glued to the front of it, an 99% of it is pure garage, including the news

Only part I miss is live sports
I do enjoy watching the masters, or playoff football, or the world series.
Don't miss the rest.

I am working on it now. I just got a Amazon Firestick, I tried a cheap digital antenna that is indoors, no luck. I will have to get a tall outdoor one, with a booster. I just need to convince the wife we dont need it.

We ditched cable and the satellite services. We kept internet and use an antenna for local channels and have Sling TV for other networks. Sling is way cheaper and we love it.

Watching this thread carefully for 2 reasons.

First, my hunting camp has battery power only. I have a TV but am toying with the idea of getting an HD antenna. However, they have to be for 70+ miles (they make 3 different models) and may have an issue with direct line of sight.

Second, my wife is also wondering if we should ditch it but she watches TV. Was thinking about an HD antenna, a firestick and then need to figure out what "subscriptions" I would need to support her "on demand" habit (NetFlix, CBS All Access, etc.). But we have multiple TVs in the house and it would seem we would have to set this up for each TV (?).

Hoping to move in the next couple of years, when I do I am saying goodbye to cable and dish. Almost nothing worth watching on tv these days, and I am sure I wont really miss what little I watch now.

Dropped directv about a year ago. Got tired of paying for 300 channels when we only watched about 12. Have both netflix and hulu now for $25 a month total. I also watch a lot of youtube stuff on the Smart tv, lots of fruit tree and soil videos, along with sports stuff. I even prefer to watch the Cowboys game highlights on the NFL youtube channel over the full game live. Can spare 12 minutes much easier than 3+ hours.

Tried the digital antenna and couldn't pick up anything. That's when you know you live in God's country. Lol

Dropped Dish Network about a year ago. The wife and I watched very little TV, sports when we did, and the kids were always streaming or on Netflix. Now we just have Netflix and that doesn't get watched very much.

I quit Direct TV 10 years ago because they were over billing me for years. When I pointed that out to them, they said a refund could only go back 6 months. They send me offers to come back constantly in the mail. At home and deer camp I have a 50 and 40 foot antenna respectively to get my local channels. Don't miss Direct TV and would never again be a subscriber. Worst customer service ever.

We dropped Dish two years ago. Indoor antenna wouldn't work, duo two months ago I got an outdoor one that's flat and about half the size of a dish. Mounted it on the same 5 foot pole and get approx 15 channels. We've have a fire stick and use PlayStation View.

I would love to drop DirecTV, but I enjoy watching Premiere League soccer too much. It's the only thing I watch....August through May. We do have a Fire Stick and Netflix already. The ability to DVR all the games and then watch them later on at night or whenever is something that I value. I should see if it's possible to stream these games live or play them on demand.

Sports has kept us on a dish. The wife would go crazy if we didn't have sports, everything else could go away real easy. The 300 channels with nothing to watch is no joke.

Can't wait to drop DirecTV. Last kid off to college next year but gotta wean the wife off all the food chsnnels. Id rather watch YouTube vids..much more interesting. I plan to go with an antenna plus internet but not sure how all the net to TV stuff works. Will b following this thread closely..

I been hoping to drop Direct TV and go to sling, but we don't have internet at the farm. As soon as that happens it will be bye bye Direct Tv. Really only watch the weather channel, football, hockey and hunting shows at the farm so Sling would be way cheaper and plenty of channels.

Similar boat for us. Pay for directv service at home and use one of the boxes up at the cabin for tv there. With a stay at home wife and two young ones running around I don't see us cutting the cord anytime soon.
