Aggressive rubbing timeline...

5 year old buck +
Anyone seeing any aggressive rub lines/areas yet? I’m talking three or more rubs visible from one location to qualify. I think we are a few weeks out as of up here in Northern Wisconsin, but I’m curious what others see. Please post pictures and maybe we can establish a timeline in certain parts of the country.

Like the idea, but cant help ya bud

This time of the year I don't set foot in the woods to find out, the stands are set an everything's in place.
Will only make a move when time an the weather dictate.

I understand that. I can typically see multiple rubs from the tree starting in late October. I haven’t seen one pop up yet on the edge of food plots.

I was sitting over one on opening weekend in Minnesota. It was the only one I could see from my stand though. Haven't been in the woods since.

Can't speak for this year - yet - but I've noticed over the last several years that heavy rubbing activity is later than it used to be. Back in the 70's and 80's I used to see a TON of rubbing in October in the northern mountains of Pa. Now - I'd say over the last 5 to 8 years, the bulk of rubbing is in mid-to-late November. The other camp members have commented on this change in timing. We've even noticed a flurry of rubbing late in December - AFTER our gun seasons are over. I'm not talking a few rubs - I'm saying a batch of rubbing.

Back in those decades, I had to dress pretty warmly and frequently hunted in snow during archery season. Frozen fingers were a common problem. No more. We commonly archery hunt in very light clothing ( camo ) now. Bugs and sweating in our stands are the norm now. I don't know if warmer temps. delay rubbing/rutting activity or not - but something's definitely changed where I hunt. Camp members don't like it at all. We used to see numerous rubs & scrapes by mid-October. Not anymore.

I was in the woods a couple weeks back, and I only saw a few fresh rubs. Although there was higher then normal scrapes. For me, I start getting excited to hunt, after the weeds wither down, and the leaves thin out. That is when I start seeing a lot more rubs. I will be out next weekend, I will check it out, and see if I notice more.

Southwest NY:
I walked the woods last weekend on Sunday (October 1st). I didn't see any rubs or scrapes. I wasn't scouting but more walking the property line of my lease and checking my field. I would say that we are a few weeks away (mid to end of October and things will pick up here).

My property is in Central Wisconsin near the town of Almond in Portage county. I was up there last weekend to pay my helper and do all sorts of other small jobs. I drove around my land as I normally do to check things out. I never got out of the truck but did not see any rubs or scrapes. I typically have scrapes in the same places from year to year, where a good licking branch is available for the buck to use. So it is easy to check known areas. Nothing going on yet.

I spent several hours in the woods on October 5th. Checking trail cams and putting up a ladder tree stand. Didn't see any evidence of any rubs or scrapes. My property is located in Western NY about 10 miles North of the Pa. border.

Where I live in southern MN, I didn’t see any.

Found three pines today within a 10 yard line that were freshly rubbed. May have been more but I got the heck out of there.

I still haven’t seen any horn rubs yet as of October 7th.

This past weekend in NC there were rubs and scrapes to be seen along the field edges and logging roads. The main ridge on my property had a very noticeable ( every 15 to 20 yards) rub line running across the top of it.

They are rubbing some here, haven't seen any scrape action yet.

Update - I saw the first small rubs at camp this past weekend. Nothing big at all, and no scrapes yet. Rubs were on small, 3/4" to 1" dia. pitch pines. 68 to 70 deg. this past weekend.

I didn’t see any new rubs when I was up last weekend, but I have a couple little bucks sparing.

I still havent been in the woods but rubs are becoming more common on the edges on the farm I hunt. I can say though that of the rubs i saw on Saturday while checking my cameras in the rain I saw at least five times as many scrapes.

Rubs popping up everywhere now. Most my cams are on rubbing posts and they've all been rubbed (the ones I've checked anyway).

Lots of rubs and scrapes are popping up in SE MN right now. Friday night I saw a couple little bucks chase does around that were feeding in front of me. I think someone forgot to tell the little guys that they are jumping the gun a bit.

I am seeing the little guys jumping the gun right now also. I have two shooters on camera now in the past week. Seen two rubs from my access roads today. One on a 2” birch and another on about a 7” something. Second one got me fired up.
