2018 Rootstock

Wondering where you guys are ordering your bulk rootstock from? I've been looking at Willamette, and Copenhaven. Wondering if there are other cost effective places to order Qty 50 (or 100 if need be).

I've ordered from Treco and Willamette. Treco had a 100 min order while Willamette would sell 50. I've also been pretty satisfied by regrade/2nds. Planning just an order of 50 pear rootstock this year, probably from Willamette.

Willamette has been my go to, I order 100 per year but the price has been creeping up year to year... service has always been great, and the quality of the root stock has been good too... I will likely do one more year with them but from now on I think I have enough trees that are failed grafts and leftovers that I will be creating a dedicated stooling bed and just grow my own root stock... Its much more time consuming than just getting them in the mail but will be cheaper.

Fedco

Fedco and other nurseries are reselling what they buy from the wholesale growers/distributors. So what you buy from Cummins likely came from Willamette or Treco. Most all carry B118 and M111 but if you want something else there might only be one or 2 places to get it. If you want Polish 18, you'll only find it at Cummins or Treco. Cummins and Willamette sell the most Genevas.

If you want 50 of something, look at Willamette first to see if they have the variety and caliper (diameter) you want in a bundle of 50. If bundles of 100 or you want 50 each of 2 things, look at Willamette, Treco, and Copenhaven. If you want seedling rootstock, check out Lawyers too.

If you want 25 to 49, Raintree has a nice price break at 25.

For smaller numbers, whichever retail nursery has it and is most convenient.

Dang, it looks like I'm too late to order for 2018 grafting :( in bulk. Anybody finding anywhere that still has some available?

What do you want and who have you called?

I have purchased from Willamette the past 3-4 seasons. Much cheaper than Cummin's where I bought previously.
