Does deer blowing always = busted?

Will deer blow at bobcats or other predators, or did I get busted? While on stand around 8am Saturday morning I heard a deer blow, take off, blow again, and take off for good. The deer was out of sight in the thick woods and was never near downwind of me or the path I took to the stand. Trail...

    Raccoon trapping

Last night was my first time ever setting traps. Even though it was really cold overnight a little beginners luck got me on the board. Duke dog proofs with marshmallows.

Is this what I think this is?

Doesn't look like any of the domestic dogs or coyotes I've gotten pictures of in the past.

    Got one

I apologize in advance for the long winded story but it feels good to just decompress and type away right now. It's been quite an up and down 2019 for me. Free time has been and continues to be very limited and that's why I haven't been on the forum much at all. Deer hunting this fall seemed...

    Weekend cold front

Lots of hype about hunting cold fronts in October. For those of us that are weekend warriors the timing doesn't always work out. This weekend looks promising except for the winds on Saturday, hopefully they die down late afternoon. Anybody else hitting the woods this weekend?

    utility pole licking branch?

I've got a couple wooden power line poles in a food plot that qualify for the "turd in a punch bowl" analogy. Thinking of attaching a licking branch to one near my stand. Has anybody done this with success?

    this year's fawn recruitment

Another month long soak of trail cameras and very few fawns captured. And no sets of twins. I run cameras in the same spots year after year. I've never seen such a lack of fawns during the summer. I noticed it early but held off judgement until more recently. Don't know if it was the heavy snow...

    trailer parts

Going to Canada in a few weeks for the first time so my boat trailer which is normally only used for short runs to/from the river needed some attention. I found posts on another forum of people recommending www.recstuff.com for parts. I checked them out and they had what I needed and the prices...

    Sumac lemonade time

Sumac clusters are ripe. I picked a bunch yesterday. They all had white sticky malic acid on them. So sour and so good. Soak 6-8 full clusters in an ice cold pitcher of water. Strain through cheesecloth after 20 minutes or so. Add sugar to taste if you wish. Very refreshing and full of health...

Habitat Talk's July 2018 Trail Cam Photo Contest

Man this year is really flying by. Last year we ran a trail cam photo contest and it was fun. Hopefully this year will be just as successful. Rules are the same as last year. Only issue I remember from last year was multiple photos on the same post, please make sure to post only one photo per...
