Putting up a ladder stand part 2

Ran across this on eBay. I have no affiliation with these guys and don't yet know how well this gadget works.

But for $64 I couldn't buy the parts to make this thing. I may have to give this thing a try. I have a system but this may be a better way to skin the cat with less stuff to carry.

Dicks has similar for 40$. I used 20$ coupon and bought one. Works real good but strap to tree I replaced with heavier duty. Comes with ground pegs to keep ladder from sliding.

I read somewhere that some have stripped the teeth on those. I just purchased a Warn drill winch to put mine up.

Thanks, cheaper is better.

I can see me ending up with one of those. That would really make it easy.

I had one called.. 2nd man ladder stand.. or something like that. Used it once and the gear teeth bent. I bought a different brand now from sportsman’s guide. Haven’t tried it out. One thing I still needed was a second person to hold the stand straight on its way up. Even with the pegs in the ground the stand wanted to twist.

Looks like you really still need two guys, one to guide the stand and one to crank. I got a cheap hand winch like that from Harbor freight. It requires me to bring a ladder, but with a bracket and pulley mounted above the stand, a single guy and do it safely. I haven't had an opportunity to test my new bracket yet. It is a much lighter version of the one I made. It is a reinforced shelf L bracket. Pics and details are on this thread: http://www.habitat-talk.com/index.php?threads/erecting-a-ladder-stand-with-one-person.8344/page-2

Thanks,

Jack
