That video is great. I feel your pain but I am less forgiving. I’m trying desperately to keep bears off of my 1 through 8 year old apple and pear trees with sporadic success. I just wish they would only damage them when fruit is present. Otherwise I think they are mostly being assholes.

The bark here was removed by me, there was a hole in the center that was circular. There’s another circular hole above and to the left of the damaged bark.

Will this tree survive? The top looks fine. It is staked. It will be painted with permethrin and sevin in the paint.

Blooms on the red field are pretty purty, too. Mine was in full bloom two days ago, regretfully I didn’t take any pictures.

I’ve never soaked my grafts (although I will soak cuttings before planting) but I seal all my scions with canning wax to keep them from drying out and this seems to help me a lot.

Common occurrence on my grafts in most years. It always seems my scions wake up after the rootstock. Don’t give up !!!
