I work with drinking water issues across the state holler if you want to chat about your tests.
I would do bacteria, nitrates and arsenics for sure.
Doubt you have PFAS in your well water since I am guessing you have woods and swamp around you mostly.

Downing the trees isn’t the hard part it is cutting paths and clearing areas in the downed trees is what takes forever

Yeah that is my fear as well with the size trees I have I am afraid of a heavy layer of mulch.
I agree good info and awesome video.

We had a mulcher in this summer to open up shooting lanes and I think we paid $200-$250 per hour. Not cheap but they can get a lot done in short amount of time.

We have pockets in our woods that are 2-15 acres in size and the trees are 4-9 inches in diameter and we want to knock them down to create high stem counts. Just can’t chain saw for weeks are a time.

Has anyone used a mulcher to perform tsi on poplar? We have been flush cutting them but wow it is slow process. Wondering if we used a mulcher to knock back one acre at a time if that would work and save us weeks of work. The mulcher does not have a nice clean cut does that matter?

We can flood the DNR with letters but nothing will happen until legislators are involved. Need to make it an economic argument otherwise it will be status quo. I wish they would at least pilot moving the season back in a few different zones.

I have left the door open and then placed bungees on the top and bottom and hung black towel over the door with the bungees holding it in place. Worked good. I hate zippers as well

That is what we are doing on all our acres that aren’t clover or corn. We plant our rye heavier than you is the only difference. We go 120-150 lbs per acre since we broadcast our seed. Sounds like you are on the right track just need a decent growing season.

I killed a nice buck about 5 years ago during muzzleloading season. I think it was -20 or so and the one spot on my face that I forgot to cover got frost bite. Only good thing about hunting when it is cold is the deer need to feed and they usually come early.
