Little buddy heater

Peeps

5 year old buck +
I needed a heater for my wife and daughter to use in their enclosed stand so I picked up a little buddy heater. Tried it out once I got home and boy does that thing pump out the heat. My first thought was when can I set it up to sit in there alone with my wife. I feel a naked hunt with her is in my future.

Nothing like enjoying the finer things in life!!!

Don't screw it up. Then have your wife call mine. :)

I used one with my kid in our enclosed blind last week. Had a window open..... Looked down the logging trail and a doe was staring up at us with her ears back. Fairly rare that we get busted by them seeing us. I suppose it could have been some other scent but it made me think she smelled the Little Buddy. I have no idea. Curious what people think.

Naked hunts with my wife is a much better idea then Bill’s fake eyeballs and a camera !

I agree just heed this warning! Leave the long bow at home. It could bring painful new meaning to string rash. :emoji_fearful::emoji_scream:

Be sure to meet your state's blaze orange requirement.

I think we need photo verification of your wife's viability in this contest ... versus you and Bill comparing long bows and eyeballs ... I am sure any of our wives are easier on the eyes than any of us ...

The heaters are great....just make sure you can get some fresh air. If you don;t they can make you sick. I use one all the time in my shooting houses.....just enough to take the sting out of the cold. Only thing I wish they had a small battery powered fan to help circulate the heat.....but they work for their intended purpose. I tend to keep an extra bottle or two in each shooting house just in case as well until season closes.

My oldest and youngest are already arguing over who gets it saturday....it's our firearms opener. What they don't realize is it's DAD'S....so it's going with dad! Which may mean I may have more company than I really want!!!

I use one when I am in my enclosed stand, or in a portable blind. But I also have hunted in -40 in Northern Wisconsin, must have if you are going to sit more then a couple hours.

Your in luck they make one that takes 4 D battery’s. Do some research it might be the big buddy heater.

Yep - it's a bigger more expensive one. I have a large pack I use while hunting from my shooting houses and I can put my lil buddy heater actually in my pack (its a big SOG pack). This larger one won't fit.....but it may be one to buy 2 of them and just leave them in the shooting houses instead. Turn them into saunas!

IIRC someone touted a wall mount vented heater used up north that would not fog the windows like the Buddy vent-free models. Anyone with input?

Not a fan of the little buddy heaters. My son calls them the little trader hearted after the one we tried failed after 2 uses. I bought a simple $12 unit works like a champ. In fact at $12 I bought another one just to have since they worked so well.

My first buddy heater from 20 years ago was junk. I now have 4-5 more and they have all been great. I have 2-3 with the electric igntition / fan. Also use the hose to a 20# bottle. I've been hunting 3 seasons on the same 20# bottles, they still feel full. I don't hunt the houses all that often, and can't run the heater for more than a few minutes.

After ours failed I was considering exchanging it vs returning it but after reading a ton of bad reviews on it and the thermocouple I decided just to return it.

Camp Dukes what kind of heaters are you running?

Texsport kind of a no name brand but IMO the simpler the better when it comes to these little heaters. A friend of mine has a similar unit that is who knows how old . As old as he can remember and he’s 50. But it still works. I found this one sips LP compared to the little trader heater. I have an old cooker that runs great but is way too much heat but it’s 30 plus years old but it still works. So when the little trader quit after such a short time I was really surprised. Then I read the reviews and watched a bunch of YouTube videos on people having the same issue. I just wanted a basic unit that will last.

We have used the Little Buddy heaters for several years. We own several and have one for each of our houses. Tough to hunt without one now if it is really cold, lol. I don't think they create any more scent issues than normal. If deer are downwind and your house isn't air tight they are going to smell you. Here is a neat trick we found for the window fogging issue. Don't laugh, it actually works.
