Aaron Rodgers

Having worked in manufacturing management for 20 years supervising hundreds of folks, followed by 10 years owning my own business that's employed 50 people I'm growing sick of hearing about the player's "constitutional" rights.

Do the players have "constitutional" rights and did I serve in the USMC to defend such freedoms? ABSOLUTELY... BUT...

They're on the WORK CLOCK when playing ball and the NFL and Goodell ABSOLUTELY could have nipped the problem in the bud by enforcing the guidelines in the NFL Game Operations Manual that clearly stipulate teams can be penalized for failing to stand for the anthem. Policy in the Operations Manual reads, “The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem. During the playing of the National Anthem, players on the field should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. Players in the bench areas should do the same, and should line themselves up evenly along the sidelines. The home team should insure that the American Flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.”

NFL had no problem stopping RJ3 from wearing a Christian t-shirt reading "Know Jesus, Know Peace", Dallas wasn't allowed to honor fallen police with the most discreet of symbols, and the list goes on and on regarding prior policies followed to the Nth degree.

Arm In Arm.jpg

But Goodell failed to enforce policy on the National Anthem??? No excuses and I've got a couple of reasons for feeling that way. First, with players on the job they CAN CLEARLY be disciplined for failure to follow policy. Second, HOW MANY OF YOU WOULD BE ALLOWED TO PROTEST ACTIVELY ON THE CLOCK AT WORK with no fear of repercussions AND MORE IMPORTANTLY WITH NO CLEARLY STATED / MEASURABLE goal set to end such protesting.

Who's measuring "injustice"? I bet if you interviewed all the players separately, they'd give tons of different answers of what it will take to end their protests... fair trials (despite their prior protesting on false narratives such as "Hands-Up. Don't shoot!". Some would say only when Trump steps down. Others would say they're not even sure, but they'll know when the time is right. Goodell letting such ill-defined protests happen in the first place was management failure of the most epic variety.

Like Bill, I'll say this... if you'd ever worked with me you'd have found me to be FAR less prejudice than numerous other managers with whom I worked... always sought to hire the MOST QUALIFIED candidate who interviewed well, and in the process hired many minorities, gays, and individuals with religious AND political beliefs ranging all over the gammut. Always felt what they did OFF the job was TOTALLY their business (as long as it didn't result in criminal conviction / missed time)... but ON THE CLOCK I expected them to respect and follow policies.

Off my soapbox now. Will do my best to put it up and not get back on it.

That about sums it up. In a league where you get fined for having your socks fall down, they sure could enforce policy on game day practices if they wanted. They run into this sometimes when big name players go against the coach, The owners can't stand to lose their star player so guess who takes the fall. This has lead to the players thinking they run the league, not the owners and league officials. It's a monster.

No need for apologies, everyone's entitled to their opinion. I just feel bad now for the OP he just wanted to talk about Rodgers, and we hijacked his thread.

True. Sorry we jacked the thread Treedaddy.

Pent up frustration I guess.

Yep, completely off track here.
He is a hell of a quarterback.

Aaron Rogers is an OUTSTANDING quarterback!

What's going on in the NFL with the taking a knee thing makes me puke.
I am 100% for free speech but there is a time and place for it, what these out of touch elitists are doing is a disgrace to the flag, veterans and first responders.
I have been a die hard Steelers fan since 1970 Bradshaw's rookie year, stuck with them through good and bad seasons...as a veteran myself what they did by refusing to come out during the anthem and hiding in the locker room tore it for me. I hope they loose every game the rest of the season, my wife walked right out to our front porch and took down our Steelers yard flag as soon as they disrespected the USA. They can step off!

All around best is Brady in my opinion. Rodgers has crazy talent. And count me as another who is done with NFL and most all sports for that matter. Occasionally I'll watch some tennis or golf majors, and the Olympics. My kids are really young. I'm thinking I'll gently nudge them toward tennis or track when the time comes, if they have the desire. My oldest plays t-ball and that's fine for now. Work ethic, teamwork, feelings of achievement, those are all things I feel my family can gain from learning to fish, hunt & create habitat. I can't stand this major infatuation with sports. It's definitely a part of our societal decay, notably the waste of money and the worship of the wrong people. I'm skeptical it'll happen, but my hope is this latest football disgrace/disrespect eliminates the NFL's existence. Everyone should be thankful to live in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

A week ago the pack had 3 kneel. Thursday night I hear nobody kneeled (I refused to watch). I might watch them again this year. Maybe not.

Rodgers is good. He's just in a system I don't have much time for. Disrespect the flag and vets, I'm done.

The NFL will be a reality TV show in my lifetime.

I won't miss it.

I don’t miss it either. I was hanging stands and checking cameras from noon to 4 today. Didn’t even think about football and just enjoyed the day. Beautiful.

I don’t know if the game/system/ownership/planning is legit anyway.....

Been saying this since 98 (Would be Vikings fan) You would have a hard time convincing me its not rigged. Just another way for the ultra rich to get their hands on some more of hard working Americans $.

I'll just have to watch the Legends Football League on youtube from now on when I need a football fix. :emoji_blush:

Stopped watching pro sports several years ago. This self absorbed & disrespectful act towards our flag by these primadonna's is just further validation that I have better things to do with my time.

Best comment I have heard about this, from a black lady at work ... you kneel before the Lord and stand for your flag!

I only watch world football. English premier league is all about the SPORT and politics are 100% not even mentioned; the exception was BREXIT and how it would affect football revenue and if Catalonia went independent, could Barcelona stay in the Spanish league. Which are both pretty relevant.

And there are no neanderthals crushing their f***ing skulls together and being surprised when their brains turn to goo, making them only slightly dumber.

I like following Jeff Janis' hunting season. The guy seems pretty hardcore and would be fun to hunt with.

To be fair, what the nfl did last week and then yesterday, is because trump attacked both the brand and players exercising their constitutional right. I personally wouldn't ever protest the national anthem. Too many great men and women lost their lives serving for our country. Growing up, I only got to hear stories of my uncle and never got to meet him because of his passing in Vietnam.

I felt like a lot of people here originally, I was pretty mad and upset about all of it. I have since gotten over some of that anger, and atleast tried to be open minded about what the small majority of the athletes were trying to protest. There is social injustice in this country, I think to turn a completely blind eye to it would be irresponsible. I think there's probably police brutality that happens against all races as well. 95% or more of cops are great at their job and should deserve respect from all of us for the job they do. But mistakes will happen as well. It's situations where excessive force has been used when not needed that has caused the most unrest. I don't think it would be terrible for the criminal justice system be reviewed and modified if necessary.

Right now we are a country 100% divided and it honestly sucks. we should all want to stand for the anthem, I sure as heck want too and do. But there's no harm in atleast recognizing what the other side is saying and acknowledge that we hear them and together let's make the United States better. At this point, I think sitting and kneeling has caused enough recognition that's it come to the point everyone is now aware. I would like to see them now all stand. It's how we as a country either left or right, black or white all decide to move forward that matters.

You forgot that 99% of the police shootings that sparked the whole “BLM” movement & protests were justified shootings.. & the division in this country grew worse/majorly intensified from 2008-2016. The great mistake did not help bring this country together by calling Travon the “son he never had” & whatever else he said about Brown.

He could have helped a lot by taking a stand & putting them in their place. Now they feel empowered bc they were cut loose basically without consequence for 8 yrs.

Are there situations that were handled wrong? Sure.. Mistakes have been made. But don’t fall into the “oh they have a point” crap. BLM & the other groups have made the divide worse, not helped their cause at all.

Kap knelt bc he wanted the publicity to cover up how bad he sucks as a player. If he gave a crap about “social injustice” he would have donated or helped with a youth program or anything else productive like some other athletes have done.

I really don’t want to argue about this because I don’t feel nothing gets accomplished, you have your views and I have mine. So I will simply just respond to this message and then that’s it moving forward. If you want to blame Obama, go ahead, you’re not wrong. He could have shown better leadership and help curb the BLM movement into something more productive and also clearly back the men and women in uniform at the same time. It’s hard for me to see trump bring the country together on this issue either though. Simply because just like Obama helped impower BLM, Trump has done similar with the white nationist movement. Take those two groups and your on completely different sides of the spectrum and they will never see eye to eye. It’s going to take awhile for this country to heal.

All I was saying is that over time, I came to atleast try to understand why they the players were peacefully protesting. They chose a horrible way to protest and it’s disrespectful without a doubt and I would never do it. But I don’t think it should be completely ignored either. That’s just my opinion. Nothing more.

As for Kap, to say he hasn’t been doing anything isn’t accurate. I did a quick google search and brought up this article. So I think Kap does care. https://www.google.com/amp/ftw.usat...llar-pledge-donations-empower-communities/amp

Where kap lost me is that he went through his protesting last year and didn’t even follow up with a vote on election day. To me that’s pretty irresponsible.

Lastly, I know my views aren’t the norm for the group on this site And I honestly mean absolutely no disrespect to you or anyone else that reads what I post. Sometimes hearing different points of view on topic can good. Whether you agree with it or not. I think there were some great thought out responses in this thread. Certainly things I didn’t even think about. At the end of the day, we shouldn’t let politics divide us. I am tired of letting the two parties dictate how we should feel about every little thing and somehow if you don’t agree with it your a bad person. We as a nation are better than this.

Difference in opinion, great. Iron sharpens iron & all that. But to try & compare Obama/BLM & the other race baiters to Trump/white nationalist is either completely misguided or downright foolish. Take your pick. Trump has not had the KKK or the Brotherhood over at the White House for dinner & conversation, or said that the fool in Charlottesville was “like the son he never had”.

The majority of folks, if not all, that elected Trump want this country healed. But the minority that had their position & voice elevated to almost God-like status over the last 8 years isn’t helping. And they are the fools getting all the media attention.

Regarding Rogers, I feel like any player that has knelt over the last year is a punk. If Cam Newton decides to kneel I’ll say the same about him & the Panthers.

Kaepernick is such a stellar role model for the other NFL players to be emulating. He wears socks with police portrayed as pigs and his muslim girlfriend calls NFL owners slave masters...so the ignorant line up to support his cause. The BLM marches have turned into rioting/looting and shootings...how is that different than some terrorist march.....
No one in their right mind condones racism, crapping on the flag/veterans/anthem and first responders is NOT the way to sway anyone to your side of anything... unless the intent is to promote anti Americanism.

Screw the political stuff. This is the day after AR proved yet again there is no QB like him. I get it, Brady has accomplished more rings....and GOAT is tough to discuss but I have never personally seen (or tape of) a QB with his pure skillset (honorable mention to Elway). Just ridiculous. Seriously ridiculous.

Best of all time to play the position is clear. (different then GOAT)
